Preview: Sonos Controller for iPad

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, iPad Apps, New Apps, Videos, Free Apps,

Here at Gear Live, we’ve been in love with for years now. If you are a music lover, they are a company that you should definitely check out. One thing we love is that Sonos released a free app that allows you to control your system from an iPhone or iPod touch, rather than having to rely on their proprietary controller. Since the hit the streets, we’d been wondering when we would see some love on that platform from Sonos as well. Now we have the answer. The Sonos Controller for iPad app will be hitting the App Store in late August, but you can see a preview of it in action above.

ATT video on iPhone 4 upgrades and data plans

We broke down the iPhone 4 AT&T upgrade pricing along with the method for easily checking your iPhone upgrade eligibility for you a few days ago, but we figured we’d share the video that AT&T put together on the subject as well. Basically, it’s that odd “Seth the Blogger Guy” from AT&T talking about what you can expect as either a current or new customer as it pertains to iPhone pricing and eligibility, as well as the new DataPlus and DataPro plans.

VIDEO: YouTube Star Sings on Ellen, Talks to Lady Gaga

Imagine your mother texting you at school to let you know that you’ll be appearing on Ellen.

That’s exactly what happened yesterday to Greyson Michael Chance - the young boy who has rocked the Internet with his Lady Gaga cover.

After seeing his YouTube video, host Ellen DeGeneres immediately flew out the 12-year-old - apparently he’s not 13 - to not only perform “Paparazzi” on national TV, but to speak on the phone with “Miss Gaga” herself.

I can only imagine how low his classmates’ jaws will drop now.

VIDEO: 13-Year-Old Boy Wows Audience with Lady Gaga Cover

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Videos,

UPDATE: Watch Greyson sing on Ellen - and talk to Lady Gaga - here.

If were ever to accept singers as young as 13 years old, Greyson Michael Chance would have an excellent chance of winning.

Thanks to this his amazing rendition of “Paparazzi” at a school festival, the sixth grader has already earned himself a number of female admirers. (He has also won over an additional 7,400+ Facebook fans.)

“I am very inspired by Lady Gaga and Augustana,” Chance writes on his YouTube profile. “Lady Gaga is a freak but she has so much talent and her style of music is what I would like mine to be when im older. Augustana is one of the most underated bands I think ever to step the planet. They have so much talent it is not funny. They have such a good concept with folk and rock. It is very sad that they are so unknown.”

So, aside from providing us with a bunch of iPhone HD photos, the fine folk over at Taoviet have also published a 3.5-minute video to YouTube, giving us an up-close look at the device. The cat is pretty much out of the bag on this one, but we still want it pretty badly. You?

Comic Book Jobs: Who’s Hiring? Tokyopop!

Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Editorials, TokyoPop,

Love Knot 1I know Spring Break just ended for everyone who’s not Lindsay Lohan, and that means summer’s coming and if you’re getting ready to graduate and jump into what’s left of America’s labor pool, or if you are already there and looking for something new and different in the field of comic books, then a good place to start shopping that resume could be out in Los Angeles, at the headquarters of manga publisher .

They have four (count ‘em 4) openings, starting with a Marketing Manager. In that position, you’ll be creating and executing “the Tokyopop marketing plans with a focus on online brand development and management, grassroots, and social media marketing” and reporting all to the Associate Publisher. In addition to getting your Twitter on with your Facebooking and your YouTubing, you’ll be heavily involved in the Tokyopop Tour, managing national and retail accounts and trying to figure out how to increase marketshare. (Unhelpful Hint: in the comics industry, that usually means putting more books on the schedule, so try to think outside of that particular box.)

HP Slate gunning for iPad with cameras, USB, SD slot, and iTunes

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Handhelds, PC / Laptop, Videos,

Take a look at the latest marketing video for the , the tablet computer that should be launching fairly soon from HP. As you can see in the video, it appears that HP has built a program that runs in Windows 7 to give a custom tablet appearance, but when all is said and done, this is really just a touchscreen tablet running a full version of Windows 7, not a mobile operating system. Some will, of course, see that as a plus.

Most annoying iPad unboxing in the world

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Handhelds,

Check out the video above if you want a look at the unboxing experience. We hope you can sit through it without hoping to shoot yourself in the face, but muting the video might help in that regard. Seriously, if you are gonna unbox a product, at least try not to get in the way of the whole experience, right?

How to win at ChatRoulette: Use a piano!

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Internet, Music, Videos,

Okay, so ChatRoulette is all the rage right now (although, admittedly, I have yet to give it a try,) and we think we found someone that you’ll want to be on the lookout for when you are randomly talking to um, random, individuals. If you come across Merton, the improvising piano player, give him a moment. Hit up the video above to see why. He definitely had us laughing with some of his classic lines.
