David Letterman Returns With Writer Support

David Letterman has accomplished what no other late night host has managed to do: reach an agreement with the writers.  Of course, owning your own company does have its perks.

Letterman and his production company, WorldWide Pants, have been sitting down with the for some time now in hopes of working out a deal.  Late today, the two sides came to terms on an independent agreement that would allow both and to come back on Jan. 2nd.  Although the two talk shows will technically be competing with the returns of Leno, O’Brien and Kimmel, CBS will easily have the advantage.  Letterman and will be the only ones with the scripted jokes.

Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart will also be returning - sans writers - on January 7th.

Mind Camp 5.0 to be rescheduled

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Upcoming, Announcements,

I wanted to follow up from the email I sent out a couple of weeks ago to those of you who have purchased a ticket to Mind Camp 5.0 already. Since we weren’t able to raise enough sponsorship to cover the cost of the event, we will be delaying it. As it turns out, the usual companies who would sponsor have pretty much all spent their budget on , which takes place the week before Mind Camp would have.

I am in talks with the venue to see what date we can push back to - I am thinking it is going to be mid-March, so about an 8 week delay. This will (hopefully) give us a little more time to firm up sponsorship so we can get things paid for. As far as Mind Camp 5.0 goes, we have so far only signed one sponsor - TrenchMice at $500. A big thank you goes out to them.

If you’ve already paid for a ticket and want a refund, just drop me an email, and I will issue you one immediately. Otherwise, your ticket will simply be transferred and will be good for the newly chosen date. Once I found out when that will be, I will let you guys know.

In the meantime, if you have contacts at any local companies that you believe would benefit from supporting the event, please send them my way. Feel free to get back to me with any questions, and have a happy holiday!

Okay - what did you get?!

The Great Debaters

Here are some possible suggestions for your holiday enjoyment:

The Amazing Race: Season 12: “This is Forever, Now”

The Amazing Race

After their brief break in Dubrovnik, the five remaining teams made very early departures toward their next destination: Italy.  To reach the town of Ancona, the groups first had to travel by bus to Split, Croatia.  From there, the racers would jump aboard a ferry and travel across the Adriatic to Ancona, Italy.

Although Ronald and Christina were the first group to hit the road at 2:19 AM, the first bus wasn’t scheduled to leave until 5 AM.  This allowed Kynt/Vxyin and Nathan/Jennifer to catch up with them.  Eventually, Nicolas and Donald – who started off 5 hours later than the first team – even managed to get on the same page.  All the groups ended up being on the same ferry heading out of the country.

Unboxing Live 027: Pleo Robotic Baby Dinosaur

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Robots, Toys, Videocasts,

is, without question, one of the hottest toys on the wish lists of children across America this holiday season. Ugobe’s robotic baby dinosaur is a wonder, seemingly coming to life once it’s turned on. We were able to get our hands on a brand new Pleo, and as is our custom, we figured it best to hook you guys up with a video of the unboxing experience.

If you are unfamiliar with Pleo, it’s a robotic baby dinosaur toy that was conceptualized by Caleb Chung - he also co-created Furby. It’s modeled on a one-week-old Camarasaurus dinosaur, and mimics the behavior of a newborn baby. Pleo thinks and acts independently, and Ugobe goes as far as to say “just like a real animal.” When you first turn it on, Pleo begins it’s birthing stage. It won’t react to you much, but you should still pet it and give it attention, as that will set the stage for the personality it will eventually have. After about 5-12 minutes, depending on your level of interaction, Pleo enters the hatchling stage. This lasts until the battery charge runs out, which is typically about 45 minutes. This is where it’s basic behavioral drives will start to kick-in. He’ll ask to be fed, he’ll start to walk and explore his environment, take short naps like a baby, and he’ll start to exhibit a wider range of emotions. He will begin to experiment with new sounds he can make.
