Britney Spears to Receive Mental Evaluation

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Gossip, News,

Britney SpearsIt only took three days into the New Year for to take back the spotlight from pregnant Jamie Lynn.

Earlier Thursday, the elder Spears finally decided to show up for a scheduled deposition with lawyers.  (Keep in mind, she had somehow managed to skip out on a million of these appointments prior to today.)  After arriving approximately 90 minutes late, she left 15 minutes later.  It seems she didn’t like how she was being treated.

Now fast forward a few hours….

As of 11:45pm PT, there is a large police and medic presence outside the Spears home in Beverly Hills.  Apparently the authorities were called to the house around 8pm when Britney failed to comply with her parental visitation guidelines.  (Kevin Federline’s bodyguards tried to pick up her two boys - Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1 - as scheduled with no luck.)

After several hours of trying to resolve the matter “peacefully”, and now are reporting that Britney has been taken away on a gurney for a mental evaluation.  This decision came after the police reportedly found her under the influence of some unknown substance.

Meanwhile, both boys are apparently safe and back with their father.

Be expecting more to come..

The Amazing Race: Season 12: “Honestly, They Have Witch Powers or Something!”

The Amazing Race

After the mandatory rest period in Florence, Italy, the five remaining teams began their eighth leg of the race.  They were now set to fly 4000 miles away to Mumbai, India.  Nicolas and Donald – the first team to reach the last pit stop – started their trek at 10:12 PM.  Before heading to the airport, they researched flights through the internet.  After securing Air France seats with a 10:30 PM arrival time, they went to find a few hours of shut-eye.  Ronald and Christina were the only other duo smart enough to call ahead for tickets.

iPhone 1.1.3 Q&A: Batch One

iPhone 1.1.3

EDIT: We have posted Batch Two of our iPhone 1.1.3 Q&A.

UPDATE: In case you thought this was fake, Steve Jobs just confirmed that our 1.1.3 coverage is real in his MacWorld 2008 keynote.

After posting our coverage (if you missed it, here is our iPhone 1.1.3 firmware video and iPhone 1.1.3 photo gallery), we started asking you all to submit your questions to us. We set up a dedicated iPhone 1.1.3 Q&A thread on our forums, and got quite a response. We figured we’d better start pumping out some answers, so here goes. Meantime, leave us your 1.1.3 questions, mkay?:

Does 1.1.3 seem more stable than previous versions of the iPhone software? Also, can you please provide a more in-depth look at the new Google Maps? In addition, can you please explain how the iPhone creates an icon for the Safari bookmarks (for the home screen)? Does it automatically take a snapshot of the top-left corner of the website? (Asked here)

I guess you can say it feels more stable in some cases - but then again, it did crash once in our video. Certainly feels more complete.I am not sure how much more in-depth we can go with the Maps app, as we showed all the new functionality in the video. Lastly, the iPhone takes a snapshot of the left side of your screen to create the bookmark icon. So if you zoomed into the bottom-right of a website, the snapshot would be of the left side of the bottom right. Make sense?

Do you see these changes as a preview of what’s to come in February with the release of the SDK? (Asked here)

I am sure a lot of the changes that are in place in the 1.1.3 firmware are in preparation for the SDK. I am also sure there are under-the-hod changes that are less obvious that we don’t even know about yet.

David Letterman Returns With Writer Support

David Letterman has accomplished what no other late night host has managed to do: reach an agreement with the writers.  Of course, owning your own company does have its perks.

Letterman and his production company, WorldWide Pants, have been sitting down with the for some time now in hopes of working out a deal.  Late today, the two sides came to terms on an independent agreement that would allow both and to come back on Jan. 2nd.  Although the two talk shows will technically be competing with the returns of Leno, O’Brien and Kimmel, CBS will easily have the advantage.  Letterman and will be the only ones with the scripted jokes.

Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart will also be returning - sans writers - on January 7th.
