‘Project Runway’ Finale: Posh Sees Clear Winner

Posted by Jacci Lewis Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Bravo,

Project runway finale fanatics will have to wait a few more weeks to find out which designer won the big prize. But people who saw the remaining contestants’ final runway shows on the last day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City say it should be well worth the wait.

The only spoiler provided in the Bryant Park tents Friday was who will serve as the season finale guest judge: .

The 1000 or so fashionistas in the crowd are none the wiser on who the finalists actually are.  Since there are still two more episodes before the two-part season finale, all five remaining designers sent their collections down the runway. Two served as decoys to throw off the crowd. When the finale airs you’ll only see the three finalists’ collections.

Guest judge Victoria Beckham, a style icon known for making bold choices and setting major trends (i.e. the asymmetrical bob), said she saw a clear winner in the pack. Of the designer Beckham considers the best she says, “everything I saw I would wear myself”.

So what were the collections like? Insiders say the designers expanded on what they were already known for during Project Runway: Season 4.

WGA Key word: tentative.

Early Saturday, the bosses announced they have reached a tentative deal with the .  Details of the proposal were to be presented to union members in New York and Los Angeles today.  (A copy of the email sent by the WGA presidents can be found here.)

If the strikers react favorably to the proposed contract, union leaders will meet again on Sunday to finalize details.  Assuming a formal vote is not needed, the writers could theoretically be back to work this Monday.  Approximately 10,500 WGA members have been off the job since the strike began back on November 5th.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed…

Unboxing Live 031: MacBook Air SuperDrive unboxing

Yesterday we hit you with our MacBook Air unboxing video, giving you a look at the SSD version of the notebook. Today, we bring you our unboxing video and demonstration of the MacBook Air SuperDrive.

As you probably know by now, the MacBook Air doesn’t include any sort of optical drive built-in to the unit. While the Remote Disc feature is nice, sometimes you just want to have a dedicated optical drive. I’d hate to install Vista in Boot Camp using Remote Disc, if that is even possible. For what it’s worth, we think this is a worthy purchase to go alongside your MacBook Air notebook. You just never know when you’ll need it.

‘Lipstick Jungle’ Premiere

Lipstick Jungle

Remember those perfume ads back in the 1980’s for Parfums decoeur ‘Designer Imposters’? They went something like “if you like Giorgio you’ll love Primo!, if you like Opium you’ll love Ninja” or the more recent enticement, “If you like Juicy Couture you’ll love Yeah Baby.”  It’s human to want a whiff of luxury at a bargain price - too bad the end result usually stinks.

NBC’s reminds me of those ‘Designer Imposters’. The show, starring Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price,  premiered last night.

If you’re confused and could have sworn Lipstick Jungle stars Lucy Liu and two other chicks, you’re only half wrong.  That show is on ABC and is called .

Lipstick Jungle has the right pedigree. It’s based on a novel by Sex and the City author and its parallels to that hit HBO series are unmistakable until you scratch the surface.

Lipstick’s plot centers around three powerful Manhattan women who tread in dangerous waters of sex, lies and betrayal. At least, I think that’s what the plot is supposed to be. What I saw seemed more like a Lifetime movie for women than a glossy Primetime sex drama.

Love Scene for Scarlett Johannson and Penelope Cruz

Penelope CruzScarlett Johannson

Now that I’ve caught your attention…

According to the New York Post, an upcoming moment in may rival that scene from Wild Things most people know quite well about.

In this film, two A-List actresses will engage in what is being described as an “extremely erotic” lesbian performance.  To ramp up the tension, the ladies - and - will later be joined by a third.

Cruz’s on-screen husband (and real-life boyfriend), , is the lucky guy who will eventually turn the twosome into a ménage à trois.

Did I mention that this is a film?

Project Runway: Season 4: ‘Raw Talent’

Posted by Jacci Lewis Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Bravo, Cable, Features,

Project Runway WWE episodeWhat is the polar opposite of high fashion? I’m guessing professional wrestling after watching tonight’s episode of on Bravo.  Tonight’s challenge had the six remaining designers creating a look for the Divas of .  (That stands for World Wrestling Entertainment for the uninitiated.)

This challenge took the lingerie and figure skating challenges of seasons past to a whole new and tackier level. You don’t need a degree from Parsons to know that under the best of circumstances it is hard to make spandex, stretchy lace and rhinestones classy or wearable.

Despite the violence they inflict in the ring, the Divas of WWE seem like fairly nice gals. They requested outfits that best showcased their wrestling alter egos… like the sexy tomboy or sexy gold digger or my favorite: the classy sexpot.

Follow Up: Verizon makes good on our FiOS privacy woes

verizon FiOS privacy

A little under two weeks ago, we made a long-standing issue that we had with public. The fact that they had ignored our request to fix a huge oversight that resulted in our private FiOS account info to fall into the wrong hands for over 8 months was starting to upset us just a tad. We knew that if we shared it with you, our readers, that Verizon would have no choice but to respond quickly. At least, that was the hope.

Well, sure enough, after the story was picked up on The Consumerist as well as made it to the front page of Digg, we received a phone call. Then an email. Then another phone call. Then a couple more emails. Verizon Damage Control had stepped in.
