Neil Patrick Harris Against Second Britney Appearance

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, Gossip,

Neil Patrick HarrisWhile I’m sure he’s appreciative of the attention she helped bring to the show, How I Met Your Mother‘s would rather a certain pop star stayed at home.

Britney Spears’ cameo last month helped the CBS comedy earn its best performance in the demos ever.  So why wouldn’t he want her to come back?  Harris would (smartly) prefer to see Mother succeed on its own merits.  In an interview with the AP, the actor admitted that his opinions are not shared by everyone in his crew. “I’m in the minority that our show does not need stunt casting in order to succeed.”

The singer’s highly-publicized appearance was not the first time the series had had a celebrity visit.  Other guests have included , Enrique Iglesias, Vanessa Minnillo and Mandy Moore.  If the stunt casting continues at this pace, the comedy could end up looking like a former NBC hit.

Secret Talents of the Stars Already Cancelled

Secret Talents of the Stars, Sasha Cohen

Thanks to dismal numbers for Tuesday’s debut, CBS has decided to cancel after only one outing.

The show which would have eventually had viewers vote on their favorite performances was originally scheduled to air through the end of May.  Unfortunately, the reality series placed a distant third in its original time slot (even behind a repeat).  If things dwindled from there, the phone lines would have been painfully quiet.

So what did this abrupt cancellation force us to miss out on?  Next week, Jo Dee Messina was slated to perform modern dance, Joshua Morrow was going to juggle and was planning to transform into a trapeze artist.  (Yes, be thankful the program ended now.)

If you missed out any of this week’s performances, you can catch four of them after the jump:

Tom Cruise’s Strangely Missing Accent

Valkyrie cast

After viewing a teaser trailer for Valkyrie, I now see why Tom Cruise’s film may be in need of a few delays.

In this WWII movie, the actor plays Col. Claus von Stauffenberg - a German officer who plots to take down Adolf Hitler.  Granted, I haven’t seen the film yet, but I highly doubt the character ever took voice lessons by watching videos of Mission Impossible.

You can listen to his laughable performance after the jump.

Nintendo to release new white Gamecube controller

White Gamecube controller

Look out, world - is about to unleash a brand new Gamecube controller. Yeah, you read that right. What’s old is now new again. The “new” controller will be the exact same design as the original Gamecube controller, except this one will be white, and the cable length will be a good 3 meters. Now, if it isn’t obvious to you why Nintendo is doing this, let us spell it out for you. It’s white so that it matches , the cable is longer than the original because people are sitting farther away from their televisions than they were 8 years ago, and the only reason they are even releasing a Gamecube controller in the first place is because of how massively popular Super Smash Bros: Brawl has become. Let’s face it - playing that game with a Wiimote, or even Wiimote-Nunchuk combo is horrible compared to the joy that the controller brings.

Our wish? That Nintendo would make a Gamecube controller that plugs into the Wiimote instead, keeping it wireless.

3G iPhone launching within 60 days

In the above video, the main throwback into gadget news, Walt Mossberg, mentions that the will be 3G sometime in the next 60 days. Now we know, we talk about analysts making such claims all the time, but in case you didn’t know, Walt Mossberg is pretty much the guy that gets to play with all these things first. Before anyone else in the industry we mean. So when he throws out a claim like this, we are of the opinion that the grain of salt that you need to take it with is a lot smaller than all the other guys. Oh, and this goes along with our story that Apple may have placed the order for 3G iPhones, and the fact that iPhones seem to be sold out at a bunch of Apple Stores. It just makes sense.

The question is, once a 3G version of the iPhone is made available from Apple, are you buying?

EDIT: Mossberg has since said his comment was just based on the speculation that we all are under, however, that said - it’s Walt. You know this guy is under NDA. Even if it was prediction-based, rather than a slip of the tongue, the evidence is all around us.

Oliver Stone to Put W in George W. Bush

President George W. Bush , director Oliver Stone is going to take on the subject that has created strife, laughs, tears and terror - the presidency of a man named George W. Bush.

At that time (January), Stone said he was going to create “a fair, true portrait” of the man we all call Dubya. It’s now April, and the film is making ready for its start date (the 21st). The script has already been given to Bush biographers. Okay, I haven’t read it. However, according to some reports the script is said to depict Bush as “foul-mouthed,” “obsessed,” and shows a complicated relationship between himself and Bush, Sr.
