Remember Lisa Loeb, the singer with the glasses who had a big, big hit song with "Stay" that popped up in the movie Reality Bites?
She's carved out quite an interesting career for herself with more music, a couple of children's CD's, voiceover work, some TV work and even her own brand of glasses.
But now she has a new CD coming out and for giddy comic book fans, the cover art is by Tess Fowler.
Tess posted it on her Facebook page for all to see. The album is called No Fairy Tale and you can see why she (who's worked on the indy comics Charmed, Grimm Fairy Tale and Wonderland) is the perfect artist for it.

Beats Pill Bluetooth speaker launches at $199

It's not just the Beats Executive on-ear headphones that are new from Beats Audio, as the company has also released it's own portable Bluetooth speaker: the Beats Pill. Yes, it's a pill-shaped speaker, likely a play on the fact that it's part of the Beats by Dr. Dre line, and doctors prescribe pills. Anyhow, cheesy concept aside, the Pill brings 12 watts of power across four 1-inch drivers into it's contoured frame, made up of metal grilles and soft-touch plastic. The rechargeable battery can pump out up to 7.5 hours of tunes, and offers NFC support for easy pairing with Bluetooth devices that support the standard (including the upcoming Lumia 920, HTC devices, and all Android Jelly Bean NFC smartphones--the iPhone doesn't have NFC support at this time.) A microphone is also built-in, allowing the Pill to also work as a speakerphone, and a physical audio input lets you connect devices that don't support Bluetooth as well. Beats Executive over-ear headphones now available

Beats Audio has introduced a new model in the head-bumping Beats by Dr. Dre lineup: Beats Executive. These headphones have noise canceling technology built-in and are available today for the tune of $299.95. In addition, the materials used are far superior compared to the popular Beats Studio and Beats Solo models, which are mostly comprised of plastic. Instead, these are made from brushed aluminum and stainless steel, and the ear cups are said to be hand stitched during manufacturing. The Beats Executive feature noise cancellation that's powered by two AAA batteries, which should last for about 25 hours of usage before you need to swap in a fresh pair. You can pick these up now for $300.

Xbox Music set to launch on October 26th alongside Windows 8

Xbox Music has hit the Xbox 360 consoles of beta users, and now we are hearing that the fill service rollout is set for October 26th, just three weeks from now, and the same day that Windows 8 is released. Reportedly, the rollout will begin with the Xbox 360, Windows 8, and Windows Phone, with iOS and Android Xbox Music apps coming soon after. Smart. The service will have a paid subscription, as well as a free, ad-supported option as well.

Emma Watson Starts a Band with Co-Stars

Emma Watson formed a band with her co-stars from The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The 22-year-old actress teamed up with her castmates - including Logan Lerman - to start a group called Octopus Jam and write some songs.
"Throughout the movie we all made music together. Our band was called Octopus Jam. I sing and Logan Lerman is a classical composer, and he created a piece for me. Most nights we would sit and play music, so that was fun," she said.

Apple shutting down Ping social network on September 30

Remember when Apple launched Ping? It was supposed to be the quintissential social network for anyone who loved music. Except that Apple crippled Ping right out of the gate, and we learned that it wasn't really a social network at all - it was just another method the company wanted to take advantage of to get people to buy more music. It was annoying and resrictive. You could only talk about music that was available on iTunes...and nothing more. Recently, it was rumored that Apple would kill Ping, and now it has been confirmed. Ping closes its doors on September 30th. Anyone out there upset by the closure? Anyone?
SOL Republic Tracks HD Anthem edition inspired by Michael Phelps for $149.99

We love us some SOL Republic here at Gear Live. They sound great, look great, and are super customizable. Now, the company is set to release the SOL Republic Tracks HD Anthem edition, which are inspired by Michael Phelps. If you watched the summer 2012 Olympics, you probably caught footage of Phelps rocking a bunch of different pairs ot SOL Republic headphones prior to each of his races. These are just a custom-designed version of the standard Tracks HD headphones, but expect to pay $149.99 for the Anthem edition, a $20 premium over the standard Tracks HD. Will.i.am debuting new track on Mars first, Earth second, through Curiosity rover

Hip hop and pop performer, producer, Grammy-winner, and all-around mogul Will.i.am is set to premiere his new track tomorrow, but Earthlings won't be able to enjoy it. Why? Well, Will.i.am is debuting his new song "Reach for the Stars" on Mars. Wait, what?
No, seriously. The music will be piped through the Mars Curiosity Rover before debuting here on our humble, overrated planet. What's the over/under on Martians being discovered when they seek out Curiosity, destroying it to stop the insipid music? Tonight's gonna be a good night.
