Sylvania Water Powered ECOlight

Sylvania has come up with a nifty idea for combining green and illumination with its ECOlight. The LED light is powered by the water so needs no batteries or other power source. It also has a water temperature indicator and simple installation. The shower light is only $39.99 and can also double as an emergency light although if you have no hot water, you might want to skip the shower.

If you dug the old NES game PunchOut, then you will surely like “kirton’s” interface. He took a foam filled bag with impact sensors then wired them to a PC game pad. This transfers the impact of the game through an NES emulator. The software also includes visual feedback as the sprite turns pink when hit and an LED indicator flashes. LG LED-lit LCD TV

The Korean company LG will be displaying an even thinner LED-backlit LCD TV at the upcoming CES 2009. It has a thickness of 24.8mm, which is slightly smaller than an inch. The TV has a 2,000,000:1 ratio and the company’s 240Hz TrueMotion Drive technology. It has already won an Innovation Award in the display category. There is no availability date or price revealed but that’s okay, in our cramped quarters, we still want one!

Even tinier than the Pico is the Castrade CV-MP01. The mini-projector is 1.5 x 2.5 x 3-inches and weighs a mere 90g, and is perfect for travelers. Somehow they managed to pack in a 10 lumen LED light that is good for about 10,000 hours. With a 4:3 aspect ratio, it features a mono speaker with 200mW output and manual focus. So far it is only available in Japan for ¥25,000 (~$280.00.)

Hyun-A Ko’s Toaster Battery Charger sucks up most sizes of lithium ion batteries. Place one in the upper slot, push the handle down, and after a while it will pop back up with a full recharge. Those who are antsy waiting for the charge can watch the color coded LED display that is bread-shaped. Put it next to your Wake ‘n bacon alarm clock and you get breakfast, sort of. The prototype is certainly on the right track and may make a dull chore moderately amusing.
