Mitsubishi MDT221WTF Viseo HD Monitor With Tuner

This is another example of getting rid of 2 devices when just one will do. Mitsubishi has come out with an Viseo HD LCD screen with a built-in digital tuner, supposedly the first of its kind in Japan. The MDT221WTF has a 21.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a contrast ration of 2000:1. The HDTV also features Diatone sound, 2 HDMI inputs and an analog D-SUB 15 pin input. Look for the price of ¥80,000 (~$800.00) and a November release.

Sharp AQUOS XS1 Series LCDs

When we see a product like this, it makes us want to scream, “Gimmee!” Sharp’s new LCD TVs, the AQUOS XS1 Series, made their debut at CEATEC 2008 and feature an incredible 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Each HDTV is only 2.28cm thick and has 150% color representation with 450 cd/m2 brightness. Expected in Japan October 15, the 52-inch model will sell for ¥980,000 ($9,256.00,) while the 65-inch TV carries a ¥1,280,000 (~$12,092.00) price.

ViewSonic’s N2201w LCD has PC monitor capabilities and a built-in DVD player. With 1080i HD and a resolution of 1680x1050, the 22-inch screen has a response time of 5ms and a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Compatible with ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital TV, it has HDMI 1.3 and composite inputs. The N2201w is available for $429.00. While we like the idea of combining components, we know from experience that if you buy something that combines them, half of it will break down before the other and getting it fixed will be expensive and a pain.

Heading for a trip w-a-a-a-y up north? Olympus has updated their 1030 with the Stylus 1050 SW. It is not only waterproof, shockproof, and freeze-proof, it can handle depths of 10 ft. of water. It has Tap Control, which means that you can shoot with your thickest gloves on. Touch the side, back, or front to make adjustments. It also has a 2.7-inch LCD screen, a 3x optical zoom, a 1/2.33-inch 10.1 Mpix CCD sensor, face detection, and a True Pic III image processor. Look for an October launch for $299.99.

Olympus FE-360 and FE-370 Cameras

Whatever happened to basic black? Olympus’ new FE-360 point-and-shoot in blue has a 2.5-inch LCD and 3x zoom lens, while the FE-370, in what they say is red, has a 2.7-inch LCD and 5x zoom at a price of $149.99. In addition, the 370 cam includes intelligent auto mode, Smile Shot, and Expression Edit, to put a smile on the only one in the crowd who has none. It retails for $199.99. Look for both sometime this month.

Sharp SB series LCD TVs

Sharp SB LCD TV They may not be the cheapest on the block, but Sharp’s 3 new LCD TVs are certainly less expensive than most. The SB series features their Spectral Contrast Engine, a 6ms pixel response, full 1080p HD resolution, and PC and HDMI inputs. The LC-52SB55U is 52 1/32-inches with a $2,300.00 price, the LC-46SB54U is 45 63/64-inches for $1,700.00, and the LC-42SB45 is 42 1/64-inches and only $1,4000.00. The first two are out now, while the third will be available in September.

Samsung SC-MX20 Camcorder

SC-MX20 Camcorder Samsung is about to make their entry into the YouTube camera category with their SC-MX20. The camcorder has a 680 pixel CCD sensor with a 720x480 res, an aspect ratio of both 4:3 and 16:9, a 2.7-inch LCD display, a Scheider 34x optical zoon, and a swivel grip. It also features noise reduction tech, 3 hours of battery life, and Samsung’s Advanced Image Stabilization technology. Available in black, red, white, or silver, look for the SC-MX20 in August for $279.99.

Canon REALiS Professional Projectors WUX10 and SX80

Canon has two new REALiS Professional Projectors. The WUX10 has a WUXGA-resolution (1920 x 1200) and is top of the line. Their REALiS SX80 has a hi-res SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) with PictBride connectivity. Both have LCOS reflective LCD panels for what they say eliminates the “screen door effect” and AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System) Optical Engine for higher brightness level and better contrast. Finally, both have 1.5x powered zoom/focus lenses. Look for an October debut with the WUX10 with a whopping MSRP of $12,999.00. The SX80 will be available this month for $3,999.00.

Creative Vado Pocket Video Cam

Vado Creative has come up with its own version of the Flipvideo, the Vado. The basic point, press, and shoot pocket video camera can capture up to 2 hours of video with 2x digital zoom. Playback is instant on the 2-inch LCD screen and uploading on YouTube or Photobucket is available when you connect to your PC. Recharge the AA batteries via USB or change out (extras not included) for more time. The price on the Vado, which comes in silver or pink, is $99.00.
