2008 Holiday Gift Guide: Kodak ZI6 Pocket Video Camera

Kodak ZI6

If you wanna pick up a YouTube-ready video camera for Mom, we are hard pressed to find something as good as the Kodak ZI6, for the price. This little camera shoots in 720p high-definition at 60 frames per second, and can also take regular old still images as well. Other cameras, like the can’t do that. It supports SD cards in sizes up to 32GB, which basically means you’ll be able to shoot video until your (rechargeable) battery dies, as opposed to worrying about how much space you have left. You can pick them up from Kodak for $153, they’re available in pink, as well as black. Get it quick though, because they are on sale now. After 12/15, they go back up to their normal price of $179.

Motorola ZINE ZN5 Camera Phone Available Today

Motorola‘s 5-megapixel ZN5 cameraphone arrived online and in select corporate T-Mobile stores this morning. Unlike most camera phone’s, the quad-band ZN5 takes high resolution photos using Kodak Imaging Technology – including autofocus, low-light optimization, and a real Xenon flash. Once you’ve snapped a picture, it can be instantly sent via MMS, WiFi or Bluetooth – or you can store it on 350MB of internal memory which is expandable up to 4GB via microSD.

With a price as low as $99 with a 2-year contract, we think this will be a popular new choice; however, the phone lacks support for T-Mobile’s new 3G network, opting instead for EDGE, which will certainly make some think twice before signing up.

Hop-on Disposable Phones

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smartphones, Editorial, Rumors,

Hop-on PhoneRumor has it that cell phones may go disposable. Although we traced a press article concerning Hop-ons’ order to create screenless phones from a European distributor at a price of $20.00 each, we have yet to be able to clink on a link on Hop-on’s site successfully. We did find a quote from its president Peter Michaels,

“During our meetings with distributors in Vegas the response to our simple, inexpensive, $20 phone was phenomenal. The initial test purchase order with multiple purchase orders behind it is a big step in introducing Hop-on to Europe.”

Be that as it may, don’t we have enough garbage in the world without having to add to it? We find this in the same category as single use razors and cameras that we finally see less of everyday. We notice that even Kodak has trouble dispensing of theirs and claims that they recycle up to 77% of each one. We are only concerned with that remaining 23%.

CES 2008 Video: Kodak ESP3 printer with auto facial retouching

Let’s face it - sometimes we look less than pretty in photographs. ’s solution?  The ESP3 printer, featuring software that will retouch faces (and whiten teeth and the whites of eyes) with one touch.  The technology comes from pro photographers, and is adaptable enough to selectively retouch one or more faces even within a group.

Kodak’s retouching software is also available as a free upgrade for consumers who already own Kodak printers, and complements Kodak’s already existing extremely price-effective ink cartridges (coming in at $.10 per photo printed).  The ESP3 printer will be available in the first half of 2008 and will come in at a price point of $129.
