Quote of the Day: Andre Leon Talley on Capes
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty, News,

“So, when I went to America’s Next Top Model, and I wasn’t as thin as some people want me to be, I said to Ralph [Rucci], you’ve got to come up with a fabulous idea, and I wanted a pop of color because it’s TV, and on TV you can’t wear the same thing over and over—you’ve got to have a different outfit every week.”

Jack White Goes Gaga
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Gossip, Alternative, Rock,
Embrace yourself for the following, strange revelation: Jack White likes to pretend he’s Lady Gaga.
The singer, guitarist and drummer - who is most famous for his band The White Stripes - tried to think like the flamboyant “Telephone” singer when writing a track for his new album with The Dead Weather, Sea of Cowards.
“I was thinking of the type of song a contemporary musician would write, so I started thinking about Lady Gaga. I started thinking of how she would write the music to this song and got quite into being Lady Gaga in an odd way.”
Despite Jack’s foray into Lady Gaga musical territory, the rocker insists the group’s second album builds on the sound established on their debut, Horehound, which was released last year and was recorded quickly in order to capture the band’s energy. Jack - who is joined in the group by Alison Mosshart, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence - added, “Musically it’s a more powerful, more intense, deeper, bluesier, and heavier at all points. It’s such a fast progression from first to second album, and a totally different sound.”
Taylor Swift Inspired by Stylish Fans
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, News,
Country-pop darling Taylor Swift gets her style inspiration from her fans.
The “Love Story” singer - who was recently named as the new face of cosmetic brand CoverGirl - says she looks at what other girls are wearing and gets ideas from them.
“I’m a big people-watcher. When I see a girl walking down the street wearing a really cool necklace or an outfit that’s put together in a way I wouldn’t have thought of, it’s inspiring to me. Also, girls come through my meet and greet lines every night wearing dresses or outfits I love. That’s really my favorite way to be inspired by fashion.”
Taylor, 20, was thrilled to sign-up to front the CoverGirl campaigns as make-up is something she has always loved as it can transform her look: “I love make-up. When I go on stage, I get to play with my look and try on all kinds of different colors - try red lips tonight, purple eyeshadow tomorrow. You get to play around with all these different characters, and I think that’s one of my favorite things about makeup - you can put on a new character.”
Although she is promoting cosmetics, Taylor has no plans to launch a clothing range. “I’m not planning on a fashion line right now. I’m really wrapped up in recording and writing my next album, so I’ve only taken on a few extra things lately. I love fashion and dressing up for red carpets, but I want to wait until I have enough time to dedicate to something like that.”
Turtles Inspire Gisele Bundchen

Gisele Bundchen‘s sandal collection is inspired by marine life.
The supermodel, who endorses the footwear made by Ipanema, is donating profits from her new range to the Tamar Project, an organization which studies and protects sea turtles, after becoming fascinated by the endangered creatures:
“It all began when I was at my home in Costa Rica. I saw the turtles were dying. These animals are essential to marine life. They’re part of the ecosystem. That’s why we started looking for a project that supported the continued existence of the species. We hit on the Tamar project. The entire new Gisele Bundchen Ipanema collection is based on marine life.”
Despite admitting she is not a designer, the Brazilian beauty insists she is heavily involved in the creative process for coming up with the footwear. She added to Hello! magazine, “I do as much as I can. It’s a collaboration. I’m not a designer, but I throw myself into everything else. I come up with ideas, I meet the designers, I tell them what I want and once everything comes together, I give the final approval. The shoes have sentimental value because they reflect the things that matter to me.”
Quote of the Day: Mulleavy Sisters on Functioning Together
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News,

“We’re always together. We function as one unit. We started thinking about our [autumn] collection when we were driving through Texas listening to 1950s music. I said: ‘I’m thinking of these border towns and sleepwalking.’ [Laura] said: ‘Me, too.’”

Lady Gaga Reveals Inspiration for Heartbeats
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, News, Sales,
Lady Gaga‘s new jeweled headphones were inspired by the leather jackets she wore growing up.
The “Bad Romance” singer - whose headphones are part of the Beats by Dr. Dre collection from Monster - was speaking at the launch event in Los Angeles, when she said she thought they reflected her personality well.
“I wore studded leather jackets, me and my friends in New York. Lifestyle, grit, passion and love for music, freedom. These were the things I thought about when we were designing [the headphones]. So they really reflect a headphone that I just think is really great looking and represents who I am.”
Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, said her new headphones could be bought at Best Buy’s new Club Beats department in New York, as well as Amazon for around $100.
Stella McCartney Took Tips From Son For Gap Collection
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Rumors, Sales, Boys, Girls,
Apparently, muses tend to run in the family around the fashion industry. Take, for instance, Matthew Williamson and his inspirational mother.
For vegetarian designer Stella McCartney, it’s her four year-old son Miller!
“My eldest son is just starting to have a mind of his own. I was going to do pirates and he said: ‘Nah, don’t do pirates.’ It suddenly dawned on me that this wasn’t just about what parents want to put on their kids, but about what kids will choose themselves. I needed to make every piece [of clothing] one that my children wanted to wear.”
Who knows—perhaps we’ll be seeing Miller creating ranges in the future. Those McCartneys are an imaginative group, after all.
The 70-piece collection, which is priced from $14 to $128, hits select Gap stores on November 2nd.

Rodarte Presents Inspiring Collection

Actress Kirsten Dunst has praised Rodarte’s “inspiring” Spring/Summer ‘10 collection.
The actress was seated in the front row, alongside Elijah Wood and Jason Schwartzman, for the New York Fashion Week show, which was themed around darkness and survival.
On a smoke-filled, pebble-strewn catwalk, models showcased a series of garments featuring cobweb-like leather, ribbon and lace detailing and crystal and feather adornments.
Speaking afterwards, Kirsten said, “They’re incredibly inspiring, and their clothes are always inspiring.”
Who ever knew that Kirsten Dunst was inspired by anything!
Matthew Williamson’s Mother Muse
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Women,
Matthew Williamson is a mama’s boy! The recent H&M collaborator cites his mother as his first muse.
The British designer, who has worked with stars including supermodel Kate Moss, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, says his mother’s flawless look motivated him to enter fashion.
He explained to VogueTV: “I think my first fashion moment was watching my mom prepare for work. She used to prepare meticulously the night before and I would sit at the edge of the bed and question her. She was a little bit like my first muse.”
Matthew has since been inspired by Jade Jagger and actress Sienna Miller. He has been vocal about his love of Sienna’s style, saying he admires the way she has adapted her look during the ongoing global financial crisis:
“The credit crunch means people spend on things they love rather than trends. Sienna Miller looks great because she’s not afraid to mix designer pieces with cheaper things. Iconic pieces are good buys at the moment. A brightly colored belt is my all-time tip—a cinched waist looks great on everybody. A pink patent-leather studded belt transforms a T-shirt dress from being casual and beach-y to a glamorous silhouette.”
