Dell and Wal-Mart Create Solution Station

Dell/Wal-mart logosIt would appear that Dell is teaming with Wallyworld to create Solution Station, a service to help the electronically challenged. Help is offered for setting up PCs, TVs, wireless networks, entertainment centers, etc. Wal-mart plans to offer their service in the Dallas area in about 15 stores this month. Don’t try to pull a fast one on them as they only deal with “Dell and other branded systems.” Think of it as a bargain basement Geek Squad.

Dell Launches Best of Web Site

Best of Web

Dell has decided to get in on the Internet sales force with their new Best of Web site. Offering discounts, it includes categories of shopping, travel, games, music, movies, interaction, sharing and learning. The deal here is that if you are a Dell customer, you get a discount of up to 50% on purchases from Kodak, Wild Games, and Blockbuster, etc. While we are not all that impressed with the site for the general user, take a peek if you own a Dell. It certainly is not be convincing enough to buy our next computer from the company.

Dell has announced their latest gaming PC, the XPST 730 H2C. It has 1920 x 1200 resolution and 30+ FPS with Quad Graphics, 2GB RAM and 1320GB storage, and a new NVIDIA nforce 790i Ultra SLI chipset with standard ATX motherboard. Choose between painted anodized or silver brushed aluminum. You really have to be a gaming fanatic for this one, while Dell says the unit starts at $4,999.00, PC Mag mentions a price of $6,629.00.

XPS OneDell and Microsoft have teamed together and come up with (PRODUCT) RED items to help fight AIDS in Africa. The line includes:

  • The XPS One that offers high def viewing for multimedia. At a price beginning at $1,599.00, $80.00 goes to the Global Fund.
  • The ultra-thin (0.9-inch) XPS M1330 has a 13.3-inch display and an MSRP starting at $1,149.00 and $50.00 to the Global Fund.

CES 2008 Video: Dell Crystal LCD Monitor

Design nerds unite - the Crystal monitor, which is available now, could change the way people think of monitors altogether.  Combining great design and great functionality, the Crystal is a 22” solid tempered glass monitor with built in speakers with a maximum resolution of 1680x1050 (um, what?!) and a 2 millisecond response time.

The Crystal features five capacitive touch controls, four speakers, a 2 megapixel webcam and a microphone integrated so well that they’re virtually unnoticeable at first glance.  It’s mounted on a metal tripod and features a single cable with the connections for power, , subwoofer out, and the DVI/ with HDCP.

The CES Engineering & Design Award winning Dell Crystal is available now for $1199.
