On a special post-Oscar show, late night host Jimmy Kimmel issued a response to the now classic Sarah Silverman/Matt Damon video. (If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch it here.)
Although it wasn’t nearly as funny as the original creation, the video did have some choice cameos:

Lindsay Lohan’s Nude Photo Spread
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Drugs, Drunk, Photos,
How do you get people to stop associating you with drugs? You get them to think of you nude.
In the next issue of New York magazine, recently-rehabbed Lindsay Lohan does her best to evoke Marilyn Monroe. The photo spread is practically identical to the one Monroe did back in 1962. That shoot - now known as “The Last Sitting” - took place just several weeks before the legend died…from an apparent drug overdose.
(Sorry, Linds - still thinking about you and drugs.)
Photographer Bert Stern, the same man who behind the camera forty-six years ago, said he wanted to work with Lohan because he believed she had “more depth to her”. Really?

Will Depp, Farrell and Law Fill in for Ledger?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Adventure, Independent, Casting, Obituaries, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
A few weeks ago, we said there was a chance Heath Ledger’s last project might still go forward. Director Terry Gilliam - who also worked with Ledger on 2005’s The Brothers Grimm - was doing his best to rework the uncompleted film.
Now a new report claims that Heath (and Terry) may be getting a little help from a group of friends. According to Ain’t It Cool News, Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp will all be helping to fill the gaps in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Parnassus revolves around a theater troupe and their magical mirror. Audiences members are magically taken through the mirror to have their imaginations explored.

Star Trek Movie Delayed Until Next Year
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Paramount, Drama, Science Fiction, Sequels, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
Well, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer to beam anyone up.
Those who made it out to see Cloverfield in the past few weeks got a sneak peek at another J.J. Abrams production: Star Trek. (If you haven’t seen the clip yet, you can view it after the jump.) Unfortunately, a major part of that trailer is now no longer true.
The highly-anticipated prequel/sequel was slated to be released ‘Christmas 2008’. What it should have said was ‘December….Give Or Take a Few Months.’
According to Variety, the movie’s premiere will remain ‘under construction’ until May 8, 2009.
The film was simply part of a major reshuffling in Paramount‘s calendar. In most cases, a changed date usually signals bad news; that’s not the case with Trek. In fact, the studio believes the movie will benefit from this shift.
Actors involved in the next installment include Tyler Perry, Winona Ryder, Zoe Saldana, Eric Bana, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy.

Writers Strike Finally Over
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, NBC, Saturday Night Live, News,
We can officially start the jig now.
After more than 3 months on the picket lines, the Writers Guild of America has finally announced an end to their strike. Of the 3,775 votes cast, 92.5% elected to stop the walkout. This means WGA members can resume doing what they do best starting tomorrow.
While it may be weeks before we see new episodes of our favorite shows, this news will immediately affect those programs that churn out daily fare. This means we should expect to see the return of late-night monologues ASAP. Meanwhile, the folks behind Saturday Night Live anticipate a brand new show come Feb. 23rd. (Of course, in true SNL fashion, that will probably be followed up by a repeat the following weekend.)
Of course, we could be revisiting this whole work stoppage issue again at the end of June; that’s when the current contract between SAG/AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers is set to expire.
But let’s just think happy thoughts until then, okay?

MacBook Air SSD review
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Features, PC / Laptop, Product Reviews, Wireless / WiFi,
First things first - the MacBook Air took no one by surprise. We all knew, based on the reports churning out of the rumor mill, that Apple had a subnotebook up their sleeve, and all signs were pointing at MacWorld 2008 for it’s introduction to the world. Heck, even the name of the product got out there before Steve got a chance to announce it at the event. Of course, that wasn’t the only thing that leaked before MacWorld 2008, as we got our hands on the iPhone 1.1.3 firmware weeks before it was officially announced.
What we didn’t know was how the Air would look. When Steve pulled the computer out of manila envelope, everyone was wowed. The MacBook Air is thin. T-H-I-N. At it’s smallest point, the Air is just 0.16 inches thin. That is thinner than both the iPhone and iPod touch. The larger side is just 0.76 inches. Again, tiny. See for yourself in our MacBook Air unboxing gallery.
As for the rest of the specs, the Air is the same brushed aluminum color that you will find on the MacBook Pro line, and is available in 1.6GHz and 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo speeds. Both models come with 2GB of non-upgradable RAM, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, a 13.3-inch widescreen LED-backlit display, and Bluetooth 2.1. As far as ports go, you will only find one micro-DVI, one USB, and one audio out jack. That’s it. As for storage, this is where the major choice comes in. You can choose between an 80 GB 4200 RPM ATA hard drive, or a 64 GB SSD (solid-state flash drive). We got our hands on the SSD version of the MacBook Air.
We give you our thoughts on the SSD-based MacBook Air in our full review.

Long-Awaited Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reunion
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Action, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, Specials, ABC, FX, NBC, UPN, WB, Dancing With The Stars, Announcements, News,
It has been nearly five years since that fateful May night when BTVS fans witnessed the end of their beloved TV series. The following years, fans have intently watched as their favorite characters have branched off to new projects, leaving little hope of a BTVS movie, which so many “Buffy” lovers have longed and hoped for. Unfortunately, there are still no concrete plans of a movie, but fans have the Paley Center for Media (formerly the Museum of Television and Radio) to be eternally grateful to—they have announced a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion on Thursday, March 20th at the historic Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, CA!

Lost Odyssey Review
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Adventure, Features, Microsoft, Reviews, Role Playing Games, Square Enix, Xbox 360,
It is no secret to anyone who knows me that I have a deep appreciation for games in quirky, niche, genres, and also intelligent stories. Frankly, it is rare that I get to find both of these needs met in a single game, but Lost Odyssey manages to do it.
But wait! I thought Lost Odyssey was a Japanese-RPG and thus not really niche? Sadly (in my opinion), the gaming landscape has changed so profoundly over the years that the once thriving JRPG is now increasingly a rarity; One with high-production values, so much the more. Several early reviews would have you believe that Lost Odyssey does something fundamentally wrong simply for being true to its genre. Mercifully, you are reading this review so at the very least let me try to paint a slightly different picture of Hironobu Sakaguchi’s latest opus.
