Nintendo announces Mario Super Sluggers
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Nintendo, Sports, Wii,
Nintendo just announced yet another Mario-themed addition to the Wii lineup this morning during their media summit in San Francisco - Mario Super Sluggers. It’s exactly what you expect it will be, take Mario Strikers, remove soccer, add baseball.
“Mario is truly a one-of-a-kind character; clearly fans can’t get enough of him and his friends,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re giving Wii users brilliant new ways to enjoy him while expanding our series of active-play games.”
Players will swing their Wiimotes like a bat, or motion a throw towards a baseman - you know, all that Wii stuff Nintendo likes to do. Mario Super Sluggers is scheduled to launch later this year.
Video: 2 hours of Mario Kart Wii footage
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Driving, Nintendo, Trailers, Wii,
The folks over at Wii Nintendo were able to spend some quality time with Mario Kart Wii, and they captured a good two hours of footage for your viewing enjoyment. The footage, embedded above, shows off all 32 courses from the game, so if you want to be completely surprised, you may want to steer clear. The game is played on the 150cc setting in the video, and you are also able to check out some of the menus and all that. Finally, they give their thoughts on the game, as well as the Wii Wheel.

Tom Cruise’s Strangely Missing Accent
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: MGM, Action, Drama, Period, Political, Celebrity Gossip, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
After viewing a teaser trailer for Valkyrie, I now see why Tom Cruise’s film may be in need of a few delays.
In this WWII movie, the actor plays Col. Claus von Stauffenberg - a German officer who plots to take down Adolf Hitler. Granted, I haven’t seen the film yet, but I highly doubt the character ever took voice lessons by watching videos of Mission Impossible.
You can listen to his laughable performance after the jump.

3G iPhone launching within 60 days
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Handhelds, Rumors, Videos, Wireless / WiFi,
In the above video, the main throwback into gadget news, Walt Mossberg, mentions that the iPhone will be 3G sometime in the next 60 days. Now we know, we talk about analysts making such claims all the time, but in case you didn’t know, Walt Mossberg is pretty much the guy that gets to play with all these things first. Before anyone else in the industry we mean. So when he throws out a claim like this, we are of the opinion that the grain of salt that you need to take it with is a lot smaller than all the other guys. Oh, and this goes along with our story that Apple may have placed the order for 3G iPhones, and the fact that iPhones seem to be sold out at a bunch of Apple Stores. It just makes sense.
The question is, once a 3G version of the iPhone is made available from Apple, are you buying?
EDIT: Mossberg has since said his comment was just based on the speculation that we all are under, however, that said - it’s Walt. You know this guy is under NDA. Even if it was prediction-based, rather than a slip of the tongue, the evidence is all around us.

Project Runway Leaves Bravo
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Bravo, Cable, News,
I guess we won’t be tuning into Bravo to ‘watch what happens’ on Project Runway anymore.
While everyone has been busy wondering whether Scrubs would jump ship to ABC, another big deal was being brokered over in cable-land. Come this fall, we will have to program in a new channel on our DVRs: the Lifetime channel.
In a surprise move, The Weinstein Co. has made a five-year deal with the female-oriented network to start airing the hit reality show come this November. Needless to say, NBC (Bravo’s parent company) is not pleased with this decision. The company has filed suit in a desperate attempt to keep their ratings cash cow in place.
The program about fashion designers - hosted by Heidi Klum - will be heading into its sixth season at the end of this year.

Windows Vista SP1 goes public tomorrow
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Microsoft, PC / Laptop, Software,
Word on the street is that Microsoft plans on finally releasing the first service pack for Windows Vista - that’s right, the long-awaited Windows Vista SP1 will be yours for the downloading in 24 hours. You’ll have to download it manually.
In a month’s time, on April 18, Vista SP1 will be added to the automatic update system. So the more casual bunch who rely on Windows Update for all their security needs will all come in under a second wave of installations. Here’s hoping for less crashing, better performance, and all that other good stuff. We’ve been waiting for this for over a year.
Speaking of which, those Vista price drops will also be going into effect this week. If you go ahead and install SP1, hit us up and let us know how it went in the comments.

The Incredible Hulk Trailer
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Universal, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Science Fiction, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
This Incredible Hulk. This is the movie that’s supposed to make us forget about Ang Lee’s 2003 mistake called Hulk.
Unfortunately, I just found myself giggling after I saw the big, cheesy reveal.
Question is: Could they have possibly made the green guy look better? After seeing movies like Cloverfield, have we come to expect too much from our ‘monsters’?
The Incredible Hulk comes to life this summer on June 13.
Mario Kart Wii set for North American launch on April 27
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Driving, Hardware, Nintendo, Release Dates, Wii,
After hitting you with the Japan and European launch dates for Mario Kart Wii, we are happy to bring you the news that the game launches here in North American on April 27th. That’s just a mere six weeks away before we can get our hands on all that racing wheel (Wii-l?) goodness. Just a reminder, Mario Kart Wii ships with the Wii Wheel, which is a plastic steering wheel that the Wii Remote can snap right in to, for a more intuitive driving experience.
“Mario Kart Wii transforms one of our most popular franchises into a race that every member of the family can join,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Driving with the Wii Wheel could not be more natural, and this is one place where speeding is encouraged.”
If you prefer not using the add-on, you will be pleased to know that the game works just fine with the Wii Remote all by its lonesome, as well as with the Nunchuk, Classic Controller, and even the Gamecube controller. Similar to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo went out of their way to ensure that gamers would be completely comfortable, regardless of their preferred style of play.
Just when we’ve just gotten into Brawl, we are already awaiting our next Wii game purchase. I mean, 16 new courses, 16 classic courses, 10 battle courses, and motorbikes? Who’s with us?
