Lindsay Lohan Wants a Chanel SCRAM Bracelet

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,
Partying in Cannes has given Lindsay Lohan a penchant for Chanel—so much that she wants the fashion house to decorate her alcohol-monitoring bracelet!
The actress has to wear the SCRAM device as part of the bail conditions imposed on her by a Los Angeles court but she isn’t a fan of how it looks and has pleaded with the French fashion house to custom-design it. The troubled star posted on her Twitter: “can CHANEL please help me out by getting me some stickers to put on my scram bracelet so that i can at least wear a chic dress?! maybe!? (sic).”
However, the SCRAM bracelet is not allowed to be tampered with and if Lindsay - who has her own fashion line - gets her wish, she could be thrown in jail. As part of her probation, which she was placed on following her second driving under the influence (DUI) conviction in 2007, Lindsay must wear the device at all times, even though her lawyer asked to have the restrictions changed because of her work.

Project Natal launching October 26 at $149?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, E3, Microsoft, Xbox 360,

It looks like Project Natal is set to launch just five months from today, if a trusted Edge Online source is to be believed. That would put Natal launching on October 26th, and they’ve even got it priced at $149. Even more interesting, although not surprising, is that the motion sensing Natal camera will also be sold in a bundle with the Xbox 360 Arcade console for $299. Obviously, Microsoft is looking to reach a new market with Natal, so bundling it with the entry-level Xbox 360 console will only make sense as they aim to intrigue casual users and families. Now the launch date could change, and we won’t get it confirmed until E3. That said, one other sure-thing is that Project Natal will be officially named at E3 as well—seriously, you didn’t think they’d ship with a name like that, did you?

Lady Gaga Aims for Philip Treacy Internship

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Rumors,
What’s Lady Gaga‘s next step to world domination? Hats.
The “Telephone” singer - famed for her eccentric fashion sense - has approached renowned hat designer Philip Treacy to take her on as an intern so she can learn all the tricks of the trade, but he has yet to give her a definite answer.
“Lady Gaga has requested an internship. But Philip will have to check her sewing skills first,” Treacy’s representative stated.
Gaga - who is thought to have approached the hatmaker at this year’s BRIT Awards - is often seen wearing bizarre headpieces including lobster hats and a telephone on her head. The 24-year-old star is not the first celebrity to want to do a fashion internship.
Last year, Kanye West revealed his determination to carve out a successful career as a clothes designer and had been writing to fashion houses in Europe - including Louis Vuitton on London’s Bond Street - asking for experience. Kanye said, “I’m going to go and take an internship and just do something that’s like completely normal, and just rap at the weekends or something.”
Final Project Natal hardware to be white

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Hardware, Microsoft, Rumors, Xbox 360,

In the grand scheme of things, this is just a minor Project Natal detail, but it is still worth noting that it appears that the final look of the Natal camera motion sensor accessory will be white. In all the teasers for the product, it’s been black, and in live demos, Microsoft has always gone out of their way to cover up the camera so that no one would get a peek at what it looked like until they were ready. That said, German site RTL did a video feature on Project Natal, and in that video you are able to get a look at the camera.

Bleeding Edge TV 346: Apple iPad Case review

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gizmatic, Short Bytes, Accessories, Apple, Features, Podcasts, Product Reviews, Videocasts, Videos,
When Apple launched the iPad, they knew that users would need some sort of accessory to use with the device that would make it easier to type on and use as an entertainment consumption device. That said, they released the first-party Apple iPad Case in the hopes of providing that relief. The Apple iPad Case serves three purposes in our minds—first, it provides a layer of protection. It’s soft, and it keeps the screen covered when you are transporting it around. It isn’t the most protective cover you can get, but it serves the purpose. Secondly, it acts as a stand that lets you comfortably type on the iPad. In fact, it’s so comfortable that we wrote our entire 4,000 word iPad review on the iPad itself, using the case to prop it up. Lastly, the Apple iPad Case also let’s you stand the iPad up vertically in the landscape orientation. This lets you use it to view content like videos and such, without having to hold onto the device.
We give you a look at the iPad case, and give you our opinions as well, in this episode.
Project Natal launching this October

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Microsoft, Rumors, Xbox 360,

Okay, so it’s not like the whole Project Natal launch window has been kept that silent. At CES, Microsoft let us know that it would launch this holiday season. A while later, UK television personality Jonathan Ross tweeted that Natal would be launching in October. Well, we can add more fuel to that October launch rumor, as Microsoft Saudi Marketing Manager Syed Milal Tariq said yesterday in an interview that Natal will launch globally “somewhere in October.” He went on to say that the day would be firmed up in time for E3 in June, but that we will definitely see it in October 2010.
Now, that isn’t official (read: PR) or anything, but at this point, we believe that you’ll be flailing wildly across your living room before Halloween.

iRetrophone iPhone Base is Hipper Than You

Posted by Finnian Durkan Categories: Accessories, Apple, Smartphones, Smart Home,
Do you feel like you’ve maxed out your emo/meta cred? Does your 3 wolves howling shirt sneer at you and your oh-so-last-week iPhone? Well fear not, my bespectacled flannel-clad hipster ‘friend’, the iRetrophone has the cure for what ails you. That is, if what ails you is your ability to walk anywhere instead of being tethered to one spot in particular… which is kind of the point of owning a cel phone, yeah? Or do I sound like someone’s grandpa? Is the next meta-craze immobilizing one’s cel phone? If so, then sign me up!!! I’ve been yearning for an excuse to get my tape-driven answering machine out of my attic. Don’t worry, the handset works too so you can cradle it against your left ear while smoking your corn-cob pipe and twirling your horn-rimmed glasses, Wheezer-fan.
TiVo Wireless-N Network Adapter available now

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, USB, Home Entertainment, Internet, Wireless / WiFi,
We’re not sure what type of games TiVo thinks they are trying to play here, but the company has finally gotten around to getting their AN0100 802.11n wireless adapter to retail, and they’ve decided it best to charge more than just about any other wireless device of this kind on the market. That’s right, the TiVo Wireless N Network Adapter can be yours for a shocking $89.99. yeah, you get better range and throughput than you would on the Wireless G model, but, man, that price has us seriously considering the costs of just running an ethernet cable across the house.

Sprint 4G Case for iPad review

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, Features, Handhelds, Hot Deals, Product Reviews,

Update: Check out our Sprint 4G Case video review as well!
A few days ago, we applauded Sprint for the way they were promoting their 4G service in conjunction with the launch of the iPad with their Sprint 4G Case. Obviously marketed towards the iPad buyers to get them to choose using a Sprint Overdrive 4G device rather than AT&T’s 3G plan, Sprint teamed up with Best Buy to give these cases away for free to anyone who’d purchase an Overdrive mobile hotspot at a participating Best Buy location.
Since we are in a 4G-enabled area, we figured we’d head on over to Best Buy to see if we couldn’t finagle one of the Sprint 4G Cases from the store. We weren’t going to be buying an Overdrive hotspot (we already have one,) but we were willing to just pay for one if that’s what needed to happen. The first surprise came when Best Buy told us that we certainly could just buy one outright, and that it would cost us a full $0.01. A penny. For an iPad case! We gladly paid for it, and were on our way.
Now, I didn’t recall exactly what the case that was advertised from Sprint looked like, but we did immediately think “Huh, this feels kinda cheap - I thought it would be better than this.” When I got back, I took a look at the Sprint 4G Case promo again, and it was obvious - the case that Sprint is promoting on the site is not the same case that you will actually receive at Best Buy.
Update: Looks like a couple of people have tracked down the folio version of the case. We did some more calling around this morning to a total of 6 participating Best Buy locations, and none of them had a clue about the folio—however, they’re out there somewhere. We recommend calling up your local Best Buy before heading over, to make sure they’ve got the one you want in stock!
