16 USB Ports to Hold You
Posted by Finnian Durkan Categories: Accessories, USB,
Yes, the title is a Veruca Salt reference; deal with it! If you need 16 USB ports for your desktop then my making vague Gen-X references to underachieving bands that never quite made it is the least of your problems—concentrate, Pvt. Pyle! Jeez, do I have to do everything for you? Yes? Okay then: ThinkGeek has the cure for what ails you. Well, only if what ails you is your desk’s lack of a tangle of sprawling USB cables that would embarrass an Octopus—two of them, in fact! The USB Super 16 Port Hub sports its own internal power supply and can turn the most modest of desks into a cutting-edge tangle of fiber-optic cables. Another spec benefit is that up to two PC’s can hook up and share the Port Hub at the same time. This means that you can play dueling banjos with your work PC and your MacBookPro without fear of choosing which nerd-demographic you’re going to piss off, Switzerland! Also, at $159 it’s cheaper than buying 10 t-shirts that say ‘There’s no place like 127.0.0.1’ on them, will still up your geek cred and will not have the un-wanted side-effect of getting you punched in the face, unlike the former.

WTFJeans with special iPhone, iPod touch, USB stick pockets
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Wearables,
If you’re looking for something with a SCOTTEVEST flair, but made with denim, take notice of what WTFJean has going on. They make jeans with specially-fitted pockets, lined with microfiber, meant to house your iPhone or iPod touch. In addition, they even have pockets meant to hold on to USB sticks, which we guess the pockets on your regular jeans are no good for? Oh, also, while they’re available in both male and female versions, if you’re a dide, it goes you some frontal padding for protection. Huh.
Anyhow, these will be on sale on May 2nd for $80.

We took some time to chat with MPower at CES 2010, and they gave us a quick demo of their Emergency Illuminator flashlight device. Definitely unique, as it has two battery compartments - one for standard, and one for a super-long lasting battery. In addition, the flashlight sports a USB port, which you can use to charge, say, your mobile phone, in the event of an emergency.
A big thank you to Bing for sponsoring our CES 2010 coverage!

Transcend JetFlash V70 anti-shock USB drive has rubberized coating
Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Storage, USB,
There is never a shortage of USB flash drives on the market, and what makes Transcend’s JetFlash V70 different is its rubber coating. It is capable of surviving some good drops, which is important when you are lugging several of these things around. And don’t get me started on the importance of the tethered cap holder.
The color of the drive tells you much memory each of them have. The purple is 4 GB, the orange is 8 GB, and the red is 16 GB. No word on the price, though.
