Sage Francis furthers the cause of underground hip-hop, and Sam Cooke is our collection essential, putting a little soul in this dreary winter. At the moment when people were still taking in some of the newest Bluetooth cameraphones, the newest Bluetooth network, comprised of a herd of cattle, is now the latest on the Bluetooth front. Danish vendor Blip Systems has developed a system where you can put a Bluetooth device onto members of a herd, and monitor the location of each cow remotely. In addition, you can even keep track of the cows health. The technology was developed in conjunction with the Danish Cattle Research Centre and the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences. Blip says the technology would be profitable for those with 100 or more cattle, and plan to sell the mesh networks for under 100 euros.

At a time when privacy on the Internet is of the utmost importance to many people, AOL has added a new provision to their AIM Terms of Service contract. Of course, there is rarely a person that ever even reads these things, so here is the text:
...by posting Content on an AIM Product, you grant AOL, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, assigns, agents and licensees the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to reproduce, display, perform, distribute, adapt and promote this Content in any medium. You waive any right to privacy.
That is straight from AOL themselves, my friends. You waive any right to privacy. That is as clear as day. I recommend anyone using AIM to switch to something a bit more sensible, and a lot more user friendly - like Skype - available in both Windows and Mac/Linux flavors.

Looks like Blu-Ray has another supporter in the HD format wars, and it’s a biggie. Yesterday Apple announced that it will be the latest member in the Blu-Ray Disc Association, following a bimonthly meeting in South Korea hosted by electronics maker Samsung. Proponents of Blu Ray say that the format holds more data, while companies favoring the HD-DVD format say that they are cheaper to manufacture. The upcoming players for each format are both backward-compatible with existing DVD’s. Since Sony and Apple are now behind Blu-Ray, some of you might think that the war is just about over now. Well, take a look at the upcoming HD-DVD releases and you might think twice.

Star Wars and Lego make such a good combination it’s not even funny. Witness the new Death Star II, coming this September for $300. Sure it’s a tad expensive, but just look at the complexity of this thing. Plus it comes with a stand, and measures 25 inches high and 19 inches wide.
