Facebook App 4.1 iOS

Facebook, the biggest social site, has now updated their native iOS app. Version 4.1 includes a variety of features, such as the ability to share multiple photos, a new swipe feature to message friends from anywhere within the app, image filteres (similar to Facebook-owned Instagram,) and the gift giving functionality. One feature that has finally been restored is the ability to make albums.

Sadly, for many who updated, it has not been without some setbacks as users, myself included, are encountering sign-in errors and news feeds being blank. Users have voiced their complaints to Facebook and, ironically, taken it to Twitter to make themselves heard. Gear Live advises waiting to update until Facebook submits another version to fix the issues that are currently affecting users.

iPod touch

The following article is brought to you, and sponsored, by Argos:

The iPod Touch from Apple comes with various storage capacities. An 8GB iPod Touch will store 1750 songs, 10,000 photos or 10 hours of videos. A 32GB iPod will store 7000 songs, 40,000 photos or 40 hours of video. A 64GB iPod Touch will store 14,000 songs, 90,000 photos or 80 hours of video. These storage details are obviously based on if you were to completely fill your iPod with just music, or just videos, etc. The 5th generation iPod Touch is available with either 32GB or 64GB storage capacity, and these storage details still apply.

Smartphones thief

Another example of a thief not understanding technology. A man was arrested for allegedly stealing a fifteen-year-old girl's smartphone at knife point, and then inadvertently uploaded a picture of himself on the victim's Facebook account. According to the girl's police report, she was playing with her younger brother at the playground when two men approached and stole her smartphone. As always, practice "out of sight of out mind" and know your surroundings, as small mobile electronics are high on thieves hit list.

Siri Buying Movie Tickets

We often wonder when Apple will add more abilities to Siri, such as being able to purchase a movie ticket on the go. Well, it appears that Siri will do just that in the upcoming iOS 6.1. 9to5Mac has received word from developers who are using the beta version of iOS 6.1 that Siri now has the movie purchase functionality. However, since the transaction is processed through Fandango, the Fandango app needs to be installed, otherwise Siri prompts the user to download it. This functionality works somewhat like when users make a restaurant reservation with Siri, requiring the OpenTable app to function. Currently this feature only works with select US movie theaters.

Star Wars: Darth Vader And The Ghost PrisonWhoa.

To everyone in the Eastern US affected by Frankenstorm Sandy, my heart goes out to you. Stay safe and I hope normalcy returns as soon as possible. (And don’t forget to vote!)

Show business knew how to take away the game ball from Sandy coverage with the announcement that George Lucas was selling Lucasfilm to Disney for $4 billion (with a ‘b’). That’s just mind-boggling.

And with that news came the news that new Star Wars films will be forthcoming with Lucas not involved in their production. Then, as if that wasn’t enough, Lucas announced his charitable intentions with the $4 billion. What a week. Marvel and DC will have to stage a double-secret-reboot just to get a little press.

Let’s see what else is going on:

Justice League Dark Annual #1Is Dark Metamorpho appealing to you? Do you envision a revamp of Challengers of the Unknown as a band of roving serial killers? Then you might want to be involved in the New 52 @ DC Comics!

And now’s your chance: they’re looking for both an Editor and an Assistant Editor.

For the Editor position, it’s in DC’s east coast office in Manhattan and is part of the DCU. You’ll be handling a minimum of 5 monthly titles.

For the Assistant Editor position, it’s also in Manhattan, but doesn’t make it clear that it’s in the DCU department.

For both positions, “Knowledge of comic book industry strongly preferred.”

Good luck, job seekers!
