Orange LG G910 Watch Phone

It’s Dick Tracy time with Orange’s touch watch/phone. Aside from its full touchscreen interface, the LG G910 has 3G HSDPA, video calling capabilities, a built-in MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity and comes with its own headset. Orange is part of France Telecom which has over 177 million customers and Europe will be the first to enjoy the wearable phone. No exact date or price was mentioned but after reading their press release, the company is undoubtedly going after the higher end customer.

eCO2 Watch Cuts Down on Carbon Footprint

The eCO2 watch is an interesting prototype that helps decrease your own carbon footprint. Of course it is a watch, but it also utilizes kinetic energy to pull in CO2 through its intake vents and spits out clean air through exhaust vents. While it seems that it would not make much of an impact, imagine if James Kershaw and Chad Garns’ creation was given to an entire city. In the meantime, when Earth Day comes April 22, it wouldn’t hurt to plant a couple of trees to do the same thing.

DigiFi Kleer Opera PMP Watch

Now you can wear your tunes on your wrist with DigiFi’s Opera PMP watch. It features both MP3 and MP4 compatibility, a color display, a pedometer and, of course, a watch. It also has a Kleer wireless transmitter to send CD-quality sound to any Kleer-based headphones or receiver. The timepiece is scheduled to come out in the next few months at a price of about $200.00 and we certainly hope it comes in more colors than pukey pink.

Kickbee Allows Unborn Baby to Twitter

Corey Menscher, a technologist, interaction designer and web application developer, wanted to know what his unborn baby was up to as his pregnant wife did. He created the Kickbee, a stretchy band embedded with sensors that react to movement with an Arduino microcontroller. He then decided to transmit them by Bluetooth to a MacBook Pro and from there sends Twitter updates. Our first reaction was to wonder if the baby would be affected by the procedure. This is what Corey had to say.
“I’d also like to respond to some comments about “irradiating” my baby. The piezo sensors are simple sensors that generate a very small electrical current when tapped or vibrated. They are not powered in any way…I’ve spoken to faculty about this, and considering the very low wattage, it’s unlikely much of the electromagnetic radiation will reach the baby. Even so, I’m looking into placing the circuitry on radio-absorbing material.”
By the way, we checked out the Kickbee Twitter page and noticed that it simply states when the fetus kicks.

24 Hour Fitness Launches bodybugg Upgrade, Now Mac Compatible

If you’re a fan of the hit NBC reality series, “The Biggest Loser,” you’ve no doubt noticed that contestants wear a device called a bodybugg on the back of their right arm. The bodybugg is a biometric calorie management system available through 24 Hour Fitness, which uses four sensors to convert measurements of galvanic skin response, physical activity, and body temperature into a real-time measurement of calories burned throughout the day. Users wear the compact armband, which easily fits under clothing, over the triceps on their upper left arm - allowing you to take it everywhere you go.
According to the release, “No matter what activity a user is doing – washing dishes, playing with the kids or working out – the bodybugg calculates the amount of energy expended in each motion. Users then download their captured bodybugg data to a Web interface that tracks caloric measurements and helps them monitor their food intake and activity levels as they seek to achieve their fitness goals. The Web interface includes customized menus and a database of thousands of common foods to make calorie-tracking simple.”
Upgraded features of the new bodybugg system include:
- New sleek, contemporary look and 50% smaller size
- USB cable to upload data and charge the device
- Now both PC and Mac compatible
- A free six-month (previously only three-month) online subscription to the www.bodybugg.com Web interface for tracking progress and success.
The basic principle behind weight loss is simple: you just need to burn more calories than you take in; combining the bodybugg with it’s online services and adjusting your own personal choices based on its recommendations, weight loss may just become a little easier.
