Crayola ColorStudio HD

Griffin Technology and Crayola have teamed up on the ColorStudio HD app and iMarker, and the set is now available nationwide. The cool thing about this is that the app can tell the difference between the swiping and tapping fingers of a child and the iMarker input. There are over 30 animated coloring pages with sound effects and music, and users can also create their own works of art from scratch, and can also use the built in library of assets. Art can even be uploaded directly to Facebook, or printed using AirPrint.

The Crayola ColorStudio HD app is free on the app store, and the iMarker pack is available now for $29.99.

Monster Heartbeats Lady Gaga 2.0

Looks like the Monster Cable / Lady Gaga / Dr. Dre triumverate (with Jimmy Iovine playing coach) is teaming up again to bring the Lady Gaga Heartbeats into 2011. The Heartbeats 2.0 get a redesign, bringing the updated look of the earbuds more in line with how Gaga herself has been styling herself as of late. That means weird pyramid-shaped studs coming off the side of the earbud, and a spikey looking earpiece as well. You see, these match the ridiculous pyramid bumps that Gaga has been wearing on her face while promoting her new Born This Way album...but stay with us here. Monster is promising awesome clarity and deep base that can be turned up to deafening levels without distortion, and since it has a microphone on the flat, tangle-proof wire, you can even use them to take phone calls. See? It's not just all talk, we already know that Lady Gaga loves fine gadgets. You can pre-order the Heartbeats 2.0 now on Amazon.

Phones can run out of juice at the worst times. Orange, a French telecom giant, has been working on a shirt that can convert sound waves into electrical energy.

The shirt, dubbed Sound Charge, is a charging dock for mobile phones. According to the press release, the shirt works by "reversing the use of a product called piezoelectric film".

Piezoelectricity produces electricity from pressure. The shirt uses an "A4 panel of the modified film" to absorb sound waves which are then converted into an electrical charge "via the compression of interlaced quartz crystals." That charge is then fed to a reservoir battery which transfers the charge to the phone.

The shirt was developed in time for the Glastonbury festival this week. Orange will be conducting live tests of the shirt during the musical performances to help determine which bands "are the best to charge to".

Lark iPhone Alarm

If you're tired of waking up your significant other (or your significant other waking you up!) when the alarm clock goes off, you may want to take a peek at the Lark. They're calling it a silent "un-alarm" clock, and the promise is that it will wake you up without disturbing those around you. How does it work? You wear a sleep sensor on your wrist, and dock your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad into the cradle. The device will now act as a bedside clock, while the sensor tracks all sorts of into about your sleep cycle. When it's time to wake up, the sensor on your write starts to vibrate, which is enough to wake you from your slumber.

The device will be available in Apple Stores starting on June 14th, and it'll cost $129. We've already got one in for review, so look for our thoughts on the Lark shortly.

iPhone 5 case design

What's purported to be an "iPhone 5" case with an edge-to-edge screen has surfaced at Asian trading site AliBaba.com, Electronista reported Saturday.

The listing on Guangdong, China-based Kulcase's trading site shows the front and back of what it claims to be the "Newest design crystal case for apple iPhone 5g." The unconfirmed case mockup is colored teal—we;'re guessing that odd choice doesn't make Apple's final cut for the iPhone 5—a;nd; has the flash component moved away from the rear camera, which would be a change from earlier versions of the iPhone.

The steady drumbeat of rumors about Apple's plans for the iPhone 5 seem to have fallen off in the past few weeks. But in March and April, speculative stories about delays, a faster processor and the like were flying off the shelves.

One thing that lends some credence to the AliBaba.com sighting is that Apple has already had trouble keeping its case designs for new products under wraps, notes AppleInsider.
