Earth Trek Leather Mouse

No matter how you use or wear it, leather is always a hallmark of quality and distinction, which is why we love this very sophisticated-looking mouse and hub, from Earth Trek. The mouse is the two-button style, with handy scroll wheel. The four-port USB hub looks exactly like the mouse, sans buttons and wheel. We wanted to suggest either one as a great Father’s Day gift, but strangely, pricing and availability could not be found on the Earth Trek website, which is based in Hong Kong. We still hope these elegant accessories make their way to US shores soon…

iWay iPod SD AdapterSo you’re about to go on vacation and you’re taking your trusty digital camera. You might want to pick up an iWay SD Adapter as well. Why? Because the adapter allows you to transfer photos to your iPod straight from your SD card—no computer middle-man required! First, plug the iWay into your Video iPod, then attach your photo-laden SD card to the iWay. Those 83 shots you just took of the Maui sunset will now load onto your iPod, for better viewing and of course, showing off. Plus, the adapter gives the option of erasing the data off the SD card, making room for the 104 shots you’ll take of tomorrow’s Maui sunset. For use with the Video Ipod only, and available for $78 USD.

Lego 1GB DriveBoy, have times changed. When we were kids, Lego was just a bunch of plastic brick toys. Fast forward to 2007, and Lego now appeals to all age groups, with it’s own quirky Star Wars video game franchise, home and bath accessories(!), and now—a 1GB thumb drive, courtesy of Zip Zip. When closed, it looks like a standard Lego brick, however a drive is revealed when opened. It even comes with a strap to hook on to your keyring. Very cool and retro—just don’t let your little one grab it, lest it become a piece of that Lego Millennium Falcon he’s building. Available in six colors for $50 USD.

QiGoKeep an eye out for QiGo (pronounced “key-go”,) a new marketing tool aimed at selected consumers. Attach one to your PC’s USB port and get straight to the point, no password needed. A Yu-Gi-Oh version is already available for access to Konami’s web site. Another one is in the works from Fisher Price that will allow children access to kids’ sites.

“More and more companies are offering paid premium Internet services but there is no compelling way to sell that experience physically, such as at retail or in a gift box,” claims co-founder Dan Klitsner. “Our goal was to make the Internet tangible and intuitive while eliminating user names, passwords and PINs. With a QiGO, you just plug it in and it works.”

Not only can the key be used for advertising purposes such as ongoing promotions or industry related news since the memory will be stored online, it can also be adapted for online video games, your own photo and video sharing, musical groups’ itineraries, and a more child-safe Internet experience. Destined to make a large debut this fall, we are thinking it might be a good idea to keep your Victoria’s Secret QiGo (should they decide to create one) away from prying teenage eyes.

Super Mario Mouse We knew ‘s Super Mario character (and friends) were incredibly popular worldwide, but who knew how many gadgets and toys they’d spawn? We’ve shared the Mario Race Track, Remote Control Racer, solar toy and keychains with you. Now comes Mario and Invincibility Star USB two-button mice, with a roller ball for old-school cred. The peripherals are modeled after the 8-Bit version of Super Mario Brothers, hence their truly retro, pixeled look. Bring one to work to show you’re a hardcore retro gamer…and proud of it. And we mean that in the best possible way. Available for $25 USD.

USB Panic ButtonThe USB Panic Button can cover for you when you are at work and IM-ing with friends instead of clearing your Out Box. Hit it and you will immediately get an image of a spreadsheet, chart, table, or any other work that you should be processing. You can also call up a company logo, a picture of your child’s last birthday party, or a meaningless memo. Spokesperson Audris Rumaldo told Gear Live that the ingenious device is in stock now at firebox for only $14.95. That’s not much to pay to save your assets.

(Thanks, Audris)

IncipioHitchWe are constantly trying to decide whether to use our extra USB port for downloading more music to our iPod or keeping our infra-red mouse hooked up. The IncipioHitch connects to the Apple sync and charge port on a second generation nano and converts it to a simple USB. The gadget is available in black or white for $14.99, but you can also get a Limited Edition Zebra from IncipioHitch soon. We’re all in favor of anything that can make our cords a bit less chaotic behind our PCs. As it is, we are almost too scared to look back there.

Wii Crystal Cooler Whether your precious is having overheating issues or you just want to snazz it up a bit, we have a rather interesting item for you, from those USB-obsessed folks at Brando. It’s the Wii Crystal Cooler, a clear stand for your console that has a built-in “high velocity” fan to cool off the machine. The stand is also lit up by a blue LED light, adding a dosage of coolness or amusing tackiness

to your Wii. The stand is powered via USB, and the LED has an on/off switch for quieter moments. Available for $20 USD.

Lexar JumpDrive Secure II PlusWe’re not sure exactly how necessary this is, but we love it anyway: it’s ‘s Secure II Plus, a USB flash drive which has a meter on it that shows how much space you have left. Sure, you can obtain the same information with just a few clicks of the mouse—but the meter is way cooler and slightly quicker. The JumpDrive Secure II Plus is also encrypted, as you might have guessed by now, and you can set passwords for different files. The JumpDrive is available in capacities up to 4GB, with prices starting at $20 for the 512 MB model.

visomate

Thanko has released a gadget that lets you know when you are slumping in front of your computer. The Visomate Attitude Reform plugs into your USB port and lets you know if your posture is poor of if you are sitting too close to the monitor. You can choose from a blinking LED or an equally obnoxious audio alarm. Find the Visomate at the Rare Mono Shop for 2,980 Yen (~$24.00.) I’m not sure that the gadget will improve our sitting habits, so maybe we will wait until they include a back massager in the deal.
