Bumblebee Transforms Your Tunes

No sooner do we tell you about an MP3 player, dock, and earbuds made into Transformers than Brando lets us know that they now have a Transformer Speaker for your iPod or MP3 player. Bumblebee mixes beats with your music and will even light up and dance. Record up to one minute of music for play on this innovative gadget which comes at a size of 250 x 190 x 100 mm, weighs about 900g, and will set you back $58.90. The real question remains, though, that if you hook the Bumblebee up to the Music Label Soundwave will they fight or merely morph?
(Thanks, Fanny)

Who doesn’t appreciate a good zombie gadget once in awhile? Sure, this File Folder looks kind of cheesy and you could probably make your own, but for only $4.95 it won’t cost you
a leg. Or maybe we should mention that at a size of 9 1/2 x 12-inches, it will always be there to lend a hand. Before we get too carried away, did we divulge that it makes you look merely ghoulish if you carry it around?

What is more useless than a Magic 8 Ball? That would be the Smart Cookie. Ask it a question, shake it a bit, and turn it upside down to find the answers to all your problems with ambiguous responses. These include “Future sweet like cookie,” “Answer sweet and sour,” “Don’t mock the cookie,” and “Cookie busy, try later.” We originally found the hesitant gadget available for DKK 110,00 (~$20.29,) but after further research we discovered that if you live stateside, you can receive the words of wisdom at perpetual kid for only $9.99.

In a last minute chance to cash in on the Simpsons Movie that is everywhere in Hypeland, one product seems to have sold out before the flick is released this Friday. Behold Funko’s Bobblehead Duffman who, at the minuscule price of $11.28, is unattainable to anyone who didn’t mail in the cost to prepay for the little guy. Matt Groening must be doing one heck of a bobbling himself right now, all the way to his Swiss Bank Account.

Retro clothing, gadgets, toys, accessories, etc. seem to be the rage these days (that is if your idea of “retro” is the 70s and 80s), which is why we loved the Gold Cassette Belt Buckle, the Boombox Bag and the Pac-Man Belt. Now we’re getting all wistful over Jellio’s Lite Table, which has 100 large, colorful acrylic pegs to arrange and re-arrange to create your own designs. And of course the pegs light up when “positioned over a small light source.” Somehow we suspect grown-ups will create decidedly different —and more adult—designs from the rainbows and unicorns we made as kids. Sounds like fun and it’s a great conversation piece, but feel it’s a tad expensive at $600 USD.

Show Yourself Some Love with a Custom Action Figure

Even though we’re well past the age of playing with action figures, we love the idea of owning one in our own likeness. If you do too—and have $425 USD to spare—head on over to HeroBuilders. There you just follow the steps and in two weeks you’ll have a 12” version of yourself, with the clothing, accessories (including tattoos!) and even weapons that you’ve specified. Want your mini-me to be even more bad-ass? You can order a talking version for the same price, utilizing your voice in a 20 second clip. If you wish to order more than one, you’ll have to kick out an additional $40, ($50 for the talking one). Expensive, but worth it if it means realizing a childhood fantasy.

Haven’t Transformers come a long way? No doubt in honor of the movie’s recent premiere (July 4,) Takara has unveiled its Music Label series in Japan. All three start out as bots, then Soundwave becomes an MP3 player at a price of 10,500 Yen (~$86.64,) Frenzy and Rumble turn into headphones for 3,150 Yen(~$30.00,) and Convoy is actually an iPod docking speaker for 15750 Yen (~$129.59.) All three will be destroying Tokyo in late September of this year.
