tenguSometimes, sitting at my desk all alone at night, I wish I had some company.  Someone I can interact with for a moment, then get back to work.  Someone who doesn’t demand all of my attention, just a little diversion to clear my head.  I do believe I have found that someone, and Tengu is his/her/it’s name.

A little buddy to plug into a USB port, Tengu reacts to sound.  It lip syncs to everything from the music playing in the room to TV to the dog’s bark.  Granted, there’s a little bit of a learning curve when it comes to things like music and voices, but as we all have witnessed, it seems everyone has a little bit of a learning curve when it comes to things like that.

Tengu is available now for $58.

WiiWant a Wii but don’t want the early morning wait outside Toys ‘R Us or Target? Two websites will help you to obtain the elusive game system. Wii Chat will tell you places to pre-order plus links to eBay sellers, if cost isn’t as important as availability. Wii Tracker goes one better. It lists particular stores’ availability on not only Wiis, but other hot items such as TMX Elmo, Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo DS, iPhones, and RAZRs. Sure, you could look for these yourself, but why bother when these kind folk have done it for you?

Holiday BuddyAbout 6 months ago, we introduced you to the solar-powered Sunshine Buddies (Hidamari no Tami.) It seems that Tomy has decided to issue one for the holidays, complete with reindeer. We’re not sure what kind of cheer that involves, aside from head-bobbing. You can utilize him as a cardholder or keep him on your desktop and your boss might be less less of a Scrooge. If your are looking for cutesy, this should fill the bill. The Holiday Sunshine Buddy is available for $18.00.

Floating Mood Duck RadioStill cleaning up from all the Thanksgiving hoopla? Take a nice long bath with the Floating Mood Duck Radio. His right wing features an on/off switch for lighting. Turn his head clockwise for volume control for AM or FM. To change stations on the tuner, simply give his tail a tweak. The duck is available for £12.99 (~$27.00) and we suggest at least 2 hours of stress relief with some aromatherapy salts thrown in for extra pampering.

SakuraShe answers yes and no questions, tells fortunes and jokes, sings and can keep a secret (via a key in her controller.) Who is she? The Sakura Robot has all the girly features you want in a bot including fashion tips, a cutesy demeanor, and wearing pink. She comes with her very own Segway and wireless remote. We may prefer the more macho type bot, but we suspect this will be a big hit for the more feminine group this holiday season. You can find Sakura for ~$100.00 at Amazon.

Office Commando

If you’re a 9 to 5’er, you undoubtedly have that one seemingly-calm-but-slightly-creepy co-worker—whom you know will one day bring an AK-47 to work and mow everyone down. Here’s your chance to be a good Samaritan and save lives. First, quietly befriend said co-worker, because he undoubtedly needs a pal. Then, during holiday season, gift him with the Office Commando, a toy office drone who’s mad as hell and isn’t gonna take it anymore. Use the pencil to move him around, shoot his gun and activate his catchphrases. Your new friend will love it—and more importantly live vicariously through it. Voila! You’ve saved yourself and your co-workers from certain death, and made a sociopathic new friend at the same time. All for $15 USD.
