Denon USB Turntable
Posted by Jenny Lewis Categories: Smart Home, Music, PC / Laptop, Peripherals, USB,
Still rocking the vinyls? Is your iPod lacking in content because of it? Denon has the hookup for you. The DP-200USB turntable doesn’t just spin your records, but also rips them to the integrated USB drive. The accompanying software (this one is XP/Vista only for now, unfortunately) features Auto Track Divide, which recognizes silence between songs and will insert a new track tab for each track, and Audio Waveform Recognition, which will analyze a track’s first 15 seconds and search Gracenote for you. Stylistically, this unit looks like something straight out of my own rec room at my parents’ house. It’s available for $250.

Elgato Turbo.264 HD received
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, USB, Apple, HDTV, Peripherals,
We were big fans of the original Elgato Turbo.264 hardware encoder, so when we heard that the company had released an updated version, called the Turbo.264 HD, we pretty much ordered one immediately. The product promises to “quickly convert any video into a format that you can play anywhere and share with anyone” and supports HD camcorders, AVCHD, and direct upload to YouTube. We are gonna tear into this one, and report back with our thoughts. Meantime, any questions on the device?

If you live in a PC/Mac home, IOGear’s Auto Sharing Switch allows two of them to share one USB device or printer. The LED lets you know which computer has the access and by sending a printing task, the switch automatically changes it for you. Because it is bus powered, the GUB211 needs no external power supply. The USB 1.1/2.0 device is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista 32-/64-bit and Mac OS X 10.3.9 or greater and is available for $27.95.

Elecom Japan Scope Node M-SN1UL Mouse
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Peripherals, USB,
Elecom Japan has come up with what they feel is a mouse that is as close to providing “pen and Paper” precision as one can get. The 3-button Scope Node M-SN1UL is certainly high end with a 1600dpi laser sensor that is off-center to simulate where a pen point would be located in your hand. The USB mouse is compatible with both Windows and Mac. Available in black, mat silver or glossy silver, expect a price of ¥6,000 (~$61.00.)
