Can You Hear Me Now?If you think your cell phone bill is high, take a look at Piotr Staniaszek’s dilemma. Last month, he was billed nearly $85,000.00 from Bell Mobility in Canada. It seems he got so excited that he could use his phone as a modem with his $10.00 unlimited browser fee that he downloaded high-def movies and other large files. The man said he thought the first bill for $65,000.00 seemed a mistake and was amazed when it continued to climb. Netflix MailerApparently, the office of the USPS Inspector General is not happy because the mailers that Netxflix uses have to be sorted by hand. Tony Wible, a Citigroup analyst who wrote the report, says that the income that Netflix receives per subscriber would fall from $1.05 to 35 cents. There are nice bookmarking features, DVD upconverting, and a nice backlit remote control. There’s also an Ethernet port, which allows for simple firmware updates. Of course, the fact that it takes 20 seconds to load a disc is no fun, but that is typical of Blu-ray and HD DVD players across the board.

Unbox logoAOL has decided to give up its pay-for-download service and allow Amazon to sell the movies via its Unbox service. Although AOL’s service has only been around a year, it let everyone know last Friday when it displayed a banner for Unbox after a click on its movie tab. We are certain that Amazon is thrilled that it has one more coup and AOL must be relieved to be following in the footsteps of Google, who discontinued the same service in August to concentrate on its baby, YouTube.
