Lennon Educational Tour Bus

Speaking of Yoko, she will be at the CES promoting the the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus. It is a not-for-profit mobile recording studio that allows kids to make some music and produce videos free of charge. There will be live events, aside from Ms. Ono, that will include the Black Eyed Peas and give-aways, so it has to be worth a peek. By the way, if you don’t make it there you can check the site which includes future appearances such as Macworld next week.

And the beat goes on. As studios continue to lose millions to make a point, many of the writers on strike have taken it out online as we reported earlier. At the very least it can be a sort of therapy. Director/Writer George Hickenlooper has developed a series of short films to show his support. Dubbed “Speechless,” it seems proof that if a writer has to write, they can always skip the middleman. In all, 7 Silcon Valley investors and Hollywood folks have formed companies to create work without studio assistance.

Rock 'em Sock 'em OrnamentStar Trek II Ornament

Last minute tree trimming at our house usually consists of popcorn strings until the dog eats them. We wish we had gotten a Hallmark Keepsake Rock ’em Sock ’em Ornament. At least we would have had a fighting chance. At a size of 3 1/4 x 2 3/4-inches, push their buttons and their arms punch and heads bounce just like their life-size counterparts. It comes with a greeting card for $15.00.

For your trekkor friends, pick up the Star Trek II Keepsake. This one is 3 x 2 1/2-inches, has sound and flashing lights, and will set you back $28.00. We expect that if you wait (since it is probably closed today,) you can pick one up for sale when you return that cheesy Nut Bowl that your mother-in-law found at the back of the store in the markdown aisle.

YouTube LogoA new survey conducted by Harris Interactive with 2,455 U.S. adults concluded that about 65% of them have watched a video on YouTube, compared to only 42% last year.  Forty two percent of viewers said that they visit the site frequently, a rise of 33% from last year. Forty three percent say they have seen videos on a TV network while less view them on news sites and search engines. Frankly, we are wondering why they even bothered to conduct the survey, and instead should realize that, as the survey also determined, there will be more TV and movie watching online when the networks and studios get a clue.
