If the hot summer weather leaves you tossin’ and turnin’ during the night, we’ve got something for you. Kuchofuku’s Air Conditioned Bed weighs only 5.3 pounds, is portable, and keeps you cool at night, using dual fans to circulate cool air beneath the cushion (so it’s not truly “air conditioned”, but we’ll let it go). Granted, you could just turn up your window AC, but if you don’t own one or you like your air conditioning a little more personalized, this is something to consider, assuming you have $400 USD to spare - otherwise, just pick up the much less expensive Chillow.

Philips Attempts Green Website

Royal Philips Electronics has just launched a global campaign dubbed asimpleswitch.com. The site suggests that if each of us pledges to change 3 energy-saving bulbs we will save 984 kg of CO2 and approximately €288 (~$397.00.) We assume that means per year, although it isn’t mentioned. They also suggest Philips products, such as their Actilume system, to help you save energy and offer a suggestions how you can “start a movement” or “take action.”
We’re all for giving credit where it is due, but in this instance we may have a brighter idea. We’re thinking that if this very large corporation just took the money they sank into the website and the publicity around it and just gave every household one lightbulb, they would be doing a heck of a lot more than just chatting about it or hawking their wares.

Electronic Dispenser Decides How Much TP You Need

Sheryl Crowe’s wish has almost become a reality. Kimberly-Clark Professional has devised the JRT Electronic Coreless bath tissue dispenser. When one of two motion sensors is activated, the battery powered motor dispenses a pre-determined amount of toilet paper that can be short (16-inches or five sheets,) medium (20-inches,) or long (24-inches.)
Theoretically this will produce a 20% reduction in the amount of paper used and 45% less packaging waste. In case of a glich in the flow, the device also comes with an emergency feed button, a manual feed roller, and a space for a “rescue roll” should the user need extra tissue. The dispenser is available for $29.99 in white or grey plastic or $54.99 for stainless steel housing, and runs on 4 D batteries that should last about a year.

Because chargers still utilize energy on standby, these Energy Saving Adapters, designed by Gilles Belley, individually hook up in a strip to visually let you know when your cell phone, PMP, laptop, or camera is fully charged. Don’t respond within 3 minutes, and the power is automatically cut off for you. Although still only a prototype, this is definitely an improvement over the usual green and red lights.
