Sega will have a new projector out this August, with a decided twist. The 190×205×200mm portable device has the ability to show electronic fireworks on your wall or ceiling. With a library of 55 different virtual displays, it is powered by 3 AAA batteries. Not many details were given out besides its ¥15,540 price (~$160.00,) but here’s what we are thinking: If you have ever seen an electronic fireworks greeting card, it gets rather annoying after the first thirty seconds. Ooh, ahh.

Sanyo, parent of the Eneloop brand batteries, has come up with a lamp powered by 2 AA eneloop batteries (naturally.) The ENL-Y1S(W) can be used as a bedside table lamp with either white or blue light. It also doubles as a flashlight. The lamp will run for up to 35 hours shining white light, or 16 hours with blue light, depending upon brightness. Included in the ¥15,000 (~$156.00) price is a non-metallic contactless charging stand.

Sharp has released DL-L60AV LED bulbs that are energy efficient, have a long service life and have no mercury. They screw in like ordinary incandescent lamps and feature an adjustable color function that allows users to alter the white light to seven different shades. It also has a built-in dimmer for brightness adjustment. Available in Japan for now, it comes with remote. While the upfront price may be more than an ordinary bulb, Sharp says that they can run for 11 hours at a cost of only 1 Yen (~$.01) and has a service life of about 40,000 hours.

If Jaime Sommers is wrong when she says that the cause of insomnia is because we don’t have a Sleep Number bed, at least we can now find out more scientifically. The Zeo Personal Sleep Coach alarm clock includes a wireless headband that reads your brainwaves and transmits the data to the clock’s SD card. When you get up, transfer the info to your PC, upload results to Zeo online and they will suggest what you can do to get a decent night’s sleep. At a cost of $400.00, they had better not tell you to drink a glass of warm milk or take a hot bath.
