Peeps KitValentine’s Day is barely over and we have already noticed that Easter is in the commercial air. We spotted Peeps in our local Kmart, those gelatinous creatures of sugar, corn syrup, artificial color and flavoring, and mostly unpronounceable preservatives. What is worse than actually eating them? Making your own with the Williams-Sonoma kit, which comes with molds, marshmallow mix, purple, pink and yellow sanding sugars, and those carnuba wax beady eyes. Available for $24.50, they will even toss in some butterfly, bunny, and chick cookie cutters. Won’t Mom and Dad be proud when they realize that you can create something for the holiday that will at least be fresh.

Vitamin C ShowerheadSomehow, somewhere, everyone has a stroke of ingenuity and wants to share the wealth. Sonaki claims that their Vitamin C Showerhead will reduce scale, chlorine, skin irritation, and rashes, and improve your hair quality. Each system consists of a head with two filters containing Vitamin C which they say will last you about 3000 gallons or 3 to 6 months worth of use, a mounting unit, and a 5-foot hose. At a starting price of $79.00, we’re going to wait until they come up with one that can accommodate caffeine, so we don’t have to bring our sippy cups of coffee into the shower in the morning.

Internet CafeChina has decided not to allow more Internet cafes to open this year. Last month, President Hu Jintao asked Internet regulators to promote a “healthy online culture” to protect the government’s stability. The Xinhua News Agency reports that several governmental departments, including the Ministries of Culture and Information Industry, feel that the Internet is fine for education and business but is wary at allowing its people information that they deem subversive or pornographic. Currently there are 113,000 Internet cafes in China. Considering that China has a population of about 1.3 billion, the existing cafes should make one heck of a profit in 2007.

Captain AmericaLet’s share five minutes of silence for the loss of Steve Rogers aka Captain America. Shot on the steps of the Capitol building in yesterday’s edition of the Marvel comic, he was approximately 65 years old at the time of his death. While some sources have stated that perhaps they were making a political statement with CA’s demise, co-creator Jack Kirby feels that Captain America still lives in all of us. Besides, not only will there be a 5 part event to follow up, we hear there is a CA movie in the works. Just as Superman was resurrected from comic heaven, we’re hoping the Captain shall return, hopefully in classier garb.

E coliGenerally we choose mechanical objects over the furrier, stuffed kind, but we just couldn’t resist these microbes that have been recreated 1,000,000 times their real size and transformed into plush. Choose from 25 bugs which include mad cow, malaria, ebola, flu, rabies, mange, and our own personal fave, e. coli. The 5 to 7-inch microbes would be a great addition to any desktop and a great reminder why you don’t want to have lunch at Taco Bell today. They’re available at ThinkGeek for $5.99 each and come with informational cards about their true life counterparts’ natural environments.

Excuse BoxOne of the most creative ways we can think of to get rid of annoying relatives who keep calling when you are otherwise occupied is with ThinkGeek’s new Excuse Box. The key tag holds 10 minutes worth of sound effects such as mechanical and construction sites, a baby crying, sirens, and static.  Simply press one of its ten buttons with realistic background noise and mutter, “Can you hear me now?” and the the caller will never be the wiser. The Excuse Box is available for only $9.99.

This is a ReviewMe sponsored review, however, the thoughts and opinions are our own.

We got the Brother P-Touch PT-18R sent over to Gear Live HQ for review, and we have been playing with it for about a week. We have just put up a PT-18R unboxing gallery where you can check out everything in the package. While label makers are generally not the most exciting gadgets in the world, they certainly do come in handy when it comes to tasks like organization - something we know little about. Still, we were able to set up and test the PT-18R labeler, and we give you our thoughts, after the break.

Reno 911Tasers aren’t just for maiming anymore. In an effort to push last week’s release of “Reno 911!: Miami” movie, some of the cast showed up on Rachael Ray’s cooking show today to demonstrate just how they use the gadgets to heat up hot dogs. They also created a protein shake that they referred to as a “cop-achino.” We know that publicity departments are willing to go to great lengths to promote a flick, but we are hoping that people are intelligent enough not to try these tricks at home.

Kitchen Robot

More than 40 Robotics and Information Technology professors at the University of Tokyo and 4 year’s worth of work have produced this kitchen bot that can pour you a cup of coffee and clean up afterwords. They say one of the positive aspects of robots is that you do not have to be concerned with politeness as you would with humans. The team is hoping that they can apply this basic technology not only to households, but hospitals as well. We don’t care what it will ultimately cost. We are just grateful that Rosie the Robot from “The Jetsons” will soon become a reality.
