MP3 Floating Wave MachineBathtime. Ahhhh, sounds like a soothing idea in these “crazy busy” times, right? Well who knew baths could be made even more relaxing? That’s why we’re fascinated with the poorly named

XA-AW33 MP3 player, a device that not only plays music (up to 256 MB), but also creates waves to the beat of your tunes. Plus, the gadget emits a calming light show! We’re not sure if you can use bubble bath with this item, as we suspect mounds of bubbles might interfere with the waves, lights—or both. Unfortunately, the XA-AW33 is only available in Japan, so lets hope JVC calms us stressed out Americans down by bringing it stateside.

Abduction Lamp

Designer Lasse Klein has created a prototype Abduction Lamp made of metal and glass. The light source inside the lamp lights up the windows and cone-shaped beam. Lasse originally got the idea when he drove past a lamp shop and saw how light fell from one in the window, resembling a UFO. After returning to the scene of the sighting the next day, he realized it was just a common lighting device that made the image. Now a 3-D model, the designer is hoping to create enough hype to make his idea a workable reality. GE, bring this good thing to light!

kaboomMatsushita Electric has announced that it will be replacing wiring and parts in many of its home appliances because they may be fire hazards that could create sparks and ignite plastic pieces. Included in the recall are approximately 1.9 million microwaves manufactured from 1988 to 1993, 820,000 dryers made from 1993 to 2001, and 300,000 refrigerator/freezers made from 1989 to 1993. Although the company claims that only about 260,000 of them are still in use, nine accidents involving smoke and/or fire have already occurred. Check your ancient appliances and contact Matsushita if you think you may have one of the offenders, and feel relieved with the knowledge that the inspection and repair are free.

Grohe Ondus AquaFountain

Funny. We never thought of our perfectly fine shower head as being “old school” until now. Yes, the daily shower has been given the “Minority Report”-treatment via the Grohe Ondus AquaFountain. Not only is it uber-cool-looking with its backlit touchpad and LCD display, you can program the exact temperature of the water. Avon calling? Hit the pause button on the AquaFountain and get the door. Want more? The actual showerhead imitates a waterfall, while the accompanying handset (yes, you read that correctly), offers a rain effect. We’re waiting to see how the Bubble Bath—who was unavailable for comment—will respond to these new developments. Unfortunately, there is no pricing information on the Grohe Ondus website, so stay tuned…

EleeNo Watch

We generally look for watches that are obscure or outrageous enough to capture our attention. This one simply mystified us.  Count the colored LCD blocks for hours in the top row, 10 minute chunks in the middle row, and single minutes on the bottom. The EleeNo EG3 watch’s face is created out of raised glass windows and its three buttons are used to adjust the time.

The water-resistant EleeNo is in now its third generation and the company claims that they are destined to become collector’s items. The watch can fit a wrist size of up to 195 mm (~ 7.6-inches,) weighs less than two ounces, and carries an MSRP of ¥9,800 (~$80.00.) Keep in mind that by the time you count up all the blocks, you may already be too late for that dental appointment. What a clever watch this is.

TV Timer We recently told you about Best NetGuard, which allows parents to control when and how long their kids spend time online, with just the push of a button. Now we present the similarly-themed TV Timer, which lets you set up to three TV viewing (or video game-playing) periods per day—and is controlled by a PIN number you’ve set. How does it work? Simply connect the TV’s plug into the Timer, then screw it in with a hex key to “lock” it. Plug the Timer into an outlet, set up the viewing times and PIN and you’re done! The one catch is that the device is only available through a British website—so it only accepts European plugs. We hope the makers create a US version soon. The TV Timer is available for 24.95 pounds.

SolarSafeFinally, we have found a way not to have to nag your spouse/partner/kids about overexposure. The disposable SolarSafe is waterproof and easy to use. Activate the wrist strap by holding it out to the sun and it will turn purple. Coat it with the same sunscreen you use on your family and when it changes colors it means it is time to reapply or find some shade. Just make sure that the lotion that you use is also waterproof. The handy wrist wraps come in packs of 7 for £4.99 (~$9.90) online at SolarSafe.

Jellyfish logoAfter several months of success, Jellyfish, the anti-eBay, is now running Smack shopping 24/7. The e-company told Gear Live that there will always be an auction going on with a “first run, name brand product.” Items range from themes such as electronics, women’s fashion, and baby and kids items. So pull up a chair when insomnia hits you, get your e-paddle ready, make a bid, then play a few games or chat while you shop.
