HarryThis is our kind of organizer. Harry is not mechanical nor have a robotic voice to remind you to pick up your dirty clothes, but what he does have is a multitude of “arms” to keep your keys, cell phone, iPod, and any other items you have a tendency to misplace safe. The more you feed Harry, the more he looks like a work of art, in a curious kind of way. You can mount him and his little brother Harry Jr. with screws or included suction cups. Available in 5 colors, the two Harrys are available at Formila for $30.00 and $22.00 respectively.

Darkside Watches

Tokyoflash has told Gear Live that they have two new black and blue Limited Edition watches that still take a bit of deciphering to read. The LEDs feature time, date, and day of the week and have auto-light activation possible every fifteen minutes between 6 p.m. and midnight to remind you that it is way past your bedtime. The timepieces have a stainless steel band and run on two lithium batteries. Getting your own piece of the “Dark Side” will cost you 21,900 ($180.62) and ¥15,900 ($131.13) respectively.

Pur products

If you are a big flavored water fan, Procter and Gamble now offers cartridges for its Pur Filtration System. You just plug it into your water filter and push a button to add some into your cup. Choose from strawberry, peach, or raspberry, none of which contains sugar, fat, or carbs. Pur is offering coupons good for $5.00 off a pitcher or faucet mount (each of which will set you back ~$29.99) and $2.00 off a two-pack which retails for about $9.99.

The USB Doorbell replaces your current one and allows you to play sound effects, audio clips, and WAVS or MP3s. Plug it into your computer to load, then attach it to your existing wiring if it is low (4 to 24) voltage. It has three different volume settings, a mounting loop, needs three AA batteries (not included,) and carries an MSRP of $99.99 at ThinkGeek. We were thinking that we would equip ours with Lurch asking “You Rang?” or Clint Eastwood saying “Make My Day, Punk!” The possibilities seem endless.

And by the way, we find it sort of fascinating that YouTube is becoming an outlet for commercials. This makes for good product demos and certainly helps us here at Gear Live, but we wonder how soon the site will be saturated with ads, and if the site will eventually be charging for that benefit.

Household Nuclear Generator

It’s tough to distinguish if this 80’s print ad actually appeared touting the benefits of the Household Nuclear Generator. Although there is no exact date on the piece, it’s difficult to read whether this was created as a viable product or simply a cruel joke after Chernobyl. Claiming to be user-friendly even by children, it says it is a “gentle source of unlimited energy for the home” that can save you up to 80% of your electric bill with its use. We shudder at the concept anyway, and will pass on this one, thank you very much.

Carpet Alarm ClockWith only a grabbed image off a site, it took us more than a week to track down this Carpet Alarm Clock with LED, mainly because we weren’t sure what to call it. It turned out to be merely a prototype designed by Sofie Collin and Gustav Lanberg, but it still merits a look-see. No snooze on this one, you have to get out of bed and actually step on it to turn the gadget off. We’re not sure if it would have the same effect of a shower in the a.m., but we are thinking that our standing on a scale is certainly the best way to make us aware of a new day. Perhaps in the future the two concepts could be combined. That way, you can step on its fuzziness, find that you’re late for work, then have it tell you that you had one too many french fries last night.

KotoriManekiFeng Shui

Tomy, our favorite maker of all things wind-up, tiny, and cute, has come up with a line of solar powered creatures based on their Sunshine Buddies (Hidamari No Tami) that we hear are beloved in Japan for their pleasing expressions. The Kotori Dayori-Solar Relaxation Hummingbird doesn’t fly or hum or even look like one, but chirps its way into your heart for $17.50. The 4.3-inch baby lucky cat (Maneki Neko) smiles and waves to you for good luck at a price of $19.50. Finally, who could resist the ringleader, the Feng Shui Hidamari, which nods its head for a mere $13.50, and will reportedly bring you better health when placed in the southern part of a room. These three and more can can be found at JBox.com.

Auto Mower

So you’ve heard of the Roomba, right? The device that sweeps your living room for you? Well, if you’ve ever wondered when someone would invent one for the lawn, your prayers have been answered, via the aptly-named Auto Mower from Husqvarna, which runs on its own and can be set to operate at a specific time. Auto Mower works in the rain, climbs inclines, and turns around when it bumps into something. It’s even quiet enough to run at night! Just bury a “boundary wire” around your lawn, so Auto Mower will know not to slay your prize-winning petunias. The device runs on a rechargeable battery, and comes with a dock. And don’t worry: no one can steal your new best friend, as a 4-digit pin number is required to even pick it up. Auto Mower is available (at only a few stores) for $2000. Sounds high, until you compare it to lawnmower fuel costs, hiring someone to mow it for you, or just having some extra free time.
