Over on Unboxing Live, we just published a video looking at the unboxing of the aXbo SLEEPPHASE Alarm Clock. Much like the SLEEPTRACKER watch reviewed by Gear Live previously, the SLEEPPHASE Alarm Clock specializes in waking you up when you are in your lightest phase of sleep. When that happens, you feel more rejuvinated than tired. The alarm clock monitors up to two wireless bracelets (meaning it works for two people), and tracks your movement near your programmed wake-up time. Check the video for all the details.

Buzz BoxIt’s the season of backyard partying and if you are in a particularly humid area, it’s also the time for mosquitoes. The Electronic Buzz Box will make your cronies believe, in the dark of night, that there is one of the pesky buggers plaguing them. Turn on a light and it seems to have disappeared (or you can pretend to swat it.) Turn it back off and there it is again. The box is 5 x 4 x 2 cm and comes with batteries at a price of £3.99 (~$7.98.)

Sensor FreshThis new gadget can “smell” your meat and let you know if the stuff that is beginning to turn that strange shade of grey is still edible. Using a microprocessor and complex algorithms, the Sensor Fresh can take more than 2,000 readings in less than a minute, and comes with an extra sensor card that is good for 200 uses. Running on 2 AA batteries (not included,) the Sensor Fresh carries an MSRP of $89.99, with additional replacement cards available in two-packs for $9.99. We have an even better device that is a lot less expensive. If our princess of a cat won’t eat it, we know it’s time to let the meat go.

Björk Rockabye BabyWhen was the last time you played Metallica to rock your infants to sleep? Rockabye Baby has taken rock classics and transformed them into lullabies with the use of such instruments as the glockenspiel, vibraphone, and mellotron. Led Zepplin, Coldplay, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, U2, the Beatles, and Nine Inch Nails are just a few of the musical groups from which to choose. Buy three at $16.98 apiece and receive free shipping. We think this is an excellent idea to get any fussy baby to lie down and crash to some superior tunes.

Lite Table

Retro clothing, gadgets, toys, accessories, etc. seem to be the rage these days (that is if your idea of “retro” is the 70s and 80s), which is why we loved the Gold Cassette Belt Buckle, the Boombox Bag and the Pac-Man Belt. Now we’re getting all wistful over Jellio’s Lite Table, which has 100 large, colorful acrylic pegs to arrange and re-arrange to create your own designs. And of course the pegs light up when “positioned over a small light source.” Somehow we suspect grown-ups will create decidedly different —and more adult—designs from the rainbows and unicorns we made as kids. Sounds like fun and it’s a great conversation piece, but feel it’s a tad expensive at $600 USD.

Contest ClockWe have found another DIY contest for those of you that sit up and take notice at the mention of the word competition, thinking this could be your big break. To enter the Montreal-based FurniCreations’ challenge, you must either purchase their simple LED Clock Kit, (which comes with a display, breakout board with buttons, and a power supply,) or print out their cut out version and come up with your own design. The contest will be going on until January 1, 2008, so that you will have plenty of time to plan your project. The winner’s design will be added to their spring lineup and will receive 50% of the profits earned. Even if you don’t win, your creation will be included on the site for others to see how you spend your time.

Glenn Close DogsWhat do celebs do when they aren’t acting? The latest trend seems to be erecting websites, at least in Glenn Close’s world. She and husband David Shaw are in the midst of creating FetchDog, a site that contains canine news, forums, images, health, training, and behavior reports, a breed selector tool, and blogs, including one written by Ms. Close. They are also offering a catalogue for dogs and their owners. FetchDog has not yet launched, but you can sign up with your e-addy to get on their announcement list. This is surely a sign of things to come, with celebrities hawking their wares online, but we figure it is a step up from the likes of Heidi Klum and Paula Abdul with their jewelry on QVC’s Website.

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsMommy, make them stop! We are frankly tired of hearing about whether or not actual facts have been leaked about “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” Scholastic Corporation is reportedly suing book distributer Levy Home Entertainment and DeepDiscount.com for leaking information, pictures, and advanced copies before the book’s American debut at 12:01 a.m. (0401 GMT) on Saturday. Most of us realize that negative publicity can often be just as beneficial as positive PR and suspect that this is no exception. We rate it right up there with the whereabouts of Paris Hilton at any given moment.

DescriptionDesigner Geoffrey Packer of the UK is more than a simple staircase manufacturer. He has created spiral as well as layer radial vertical stairs. We think his DNA staircase is not only inspirational, but should be a must in any laboratory/house that either is concerned with genetic research, wants to make a scary movie, or simply one up the neighbors. You can contact Geoffrey to let him know what you think or order your own basic genetic structure.

Air Conditioned Bed

If the hot summer weather leaves you tossin’ and turnin’ during the night, we’ve got something for you. Kuchofuku’s Air Conditioned Bed weighs only 5.3 pounds, is portable, and keeps you cool at night, using dual fans to circulate cool air beneath the cushion (so it’s not truly “air conditioned”, but we’ll let it go). Granted, you could just turn up your window AC, but if you don’t own one or you like your air conditioning a little more personalized, this is something to consider, assuming you have $400 USD to spare - otherwise, just pick up the much less expensive Chillow.
