Sony Ericsson Aino Smartphone

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smartphones, Handhelds, Video Games, Wireless / WiFi,

Sony Ericsson has a nifty new prototype named the Aino, named after a Finnish mythology creature. The smartphone features an 8 megapixel camera, syncs to your PC via 3G or WiFi and (here’s where the nifty part comes in) connects to your PS3, no matter where you are. This version will only show you what content is on it but hey, it’s a start. The Aino comes with a Bluetooth headset, headphones that light up and a wireless dock.

Video: Zune HD interface, hands-on

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Handhelds, Microsoft, Music, Portable Audio / Video, Videos,
Our friends over at Giz got a nice hands-on look at the Zune HD (which we happen to be giving away in our Zune HD contest), and have even got a quick interface tour on video. It’s only about a minute-and-a-half long, so don’t expect it to go too in-depth or anything, but it certainly shows how fast and responsive the Zune HD interface is, in comparison to that of the iPhone or iPod touch. Seriously, check out how fast the images respond to the accelerometer. We can’t wait for this thing to launch.

Tokyo Students Get Free iPhones For Attendance Purposes

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smartphones, GPS, Handhelds,
While keeping a cell phone on campus may be good for security reasons in the States, Japan has an entirely different idea. Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo has been handing out free iPhones to their staff and students at the School of Social Informatics. They are doing so to keep track of them by GPS to find out if they are cutting class. The instructors will also use them for homework and testing.

Black Zune HD spotted

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Handhelds, Microsoft, Portable Audio / Video,

The Zune is available in multiple colors already, so it should be no surprise that the Zune HD will follow suit. In our post yesterday where we shared the Zune HD announcement, you got a look at what appears to be a platinum Zune HD. Here in this post? The black Zune HD. Here’s hoping they keep the blue and red versions around as well…but in all honesty, we just want this thing to launch already.

If you have yet to purchase an iPhone 3G, you now have another way of buying it, as Apple is now offering direct online purchase of the phone. Something that hasn’t been seen since the original iPhone, online purchasing is back in effect on the Apple website. AT&T has actually been selling the iPhone 3G on their site for about five months now. If you are a new subscriber, you activate service online and the phone is sent to you. Current AT&T customer will have to go and pick up the iPhone 3G at an Apple Store.
This is obviously just another way that Apple is trying to clear out all that iPhone 3G inventory in preparation of the next model.
