Our bud over at Watchismo is having a Valentine’s sale with several of his unique 70’s LIP watches from France. Included are the TV, Diode LEDs, Machs and Moon Magnetisme models. His Valen-Time sale has many of these one of the kind watches for less than half price. Although LIPs have been around over 140 years, they weren’t available to the U.S. until now. Don’t miss a chance to own not only a kewl looking watch but an exclusive collectors item.
(Thanks, Mitch)

This is our kind of bathroom fixture. Students from the Skjern Technical College in West-Jutland, Denmark have designed an intelligent toilet. The thing is so smart it puts down the seat after it has been flushed without the use of an energy source. The four contenders were given a prize for best product at the Young Enterprise entrepreneurial awards. This is a prototype that we hope gets some funding and makes it to the market soon.

Pay Phone Booth Becomes Aquarium
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smartphones, Design, Misc. Tech,
Pay phone booths are few and far between these days since we all have cellies. Artists Benoit Deseille and Benedetto Bufalino decided to turn one into a work of art as part of the recent Lyon Light Festival in France. This seems a great idea in terms of recycling, but the artists had more of a deeper theme in mind for their oversized fish tank. “We rediscover this glass cage transformed into an aquarium, full of exotically coloured fish; an invitation to escape and travel.”

We found a site where you can create your own family tree and keep in contact with many of your relatives. Available in 11 countries and 8 languages, the site says that it has over 6 million trees with 60 million profiles. Dynastree also claims that 50% of its users are under the age of 30. This is believable after taking a peak on their site with its cutesy name and icons. The best part is that it is free, unlike many sites like this and that your information can only be seen by your relatives.

Super Bowl to Feature 3D Commercial
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Home Entertainment,
You know that some of us dig the commercials more than the Super Bowl itself and although there will be less of them this year because of the bad economy, there will be something to make up for it. This year, in addition to talking creatures and other assorted weirdness, the 60 sec. 3D SoBe Lifewater commercial is the first ever crossover with “Monsters vs Aliens,” the new DreamWorks movie that will be out March 27. Look for the spot at the end of the second quarter. You can get the glasses at local grocery stores, Dollar General and K-Mart. Better hurry as there are only 125 million pairs available.

Need a quicky camera mount for use with a mic stand? “mnwingnut” wanted to create something that was cheap, easy, secure and small. He finally picked up both a non-threaded female to male PVC adapter and threaded PVC cap, added a nut, wingnut and bolt, some flexible water hose and he had himself a mini-mount. Although the mount can pan and tilt, it is somewhat limited in its ability to make angle adjustments. A step-by-step guide is available for the $4.00 gadget.

Live Luggage Hybrid PA Bag
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Design, Misc. Tech, Transportation,
Live Luggage, the company that made the first power assisted suitcase, has now come out with a lightweight Hybrid PA Bag, which features a removable laptop case and overnight bag. The case features the company’s “anti-gravity” handle that pivots and is height adjustable so that 85% of the weight is balanced on the bag’s wheels. Motors are built into the wheels to help over inclines or rough areas. Rechargeable 12V NiMH batteries power the Hybrid PA that can go for about a 1.5 mile trek. The bag will be available this April for £695 (~$955.00.)

eCO2 Watch Cuts Down on Carbon Footprint
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Wearables, Design, Science,
The eCO2 watch is an interesting prototype that helps decrease your own carbon footprint. Of course it is a watch, but it also utilizes kinetic energy to pull in CO2 through its intake vents and spits out clean air through exhaust vents. While it seems that it would not make much of an impact, imagine if James Kershaw and Chad Garns’ creation was given to an entire city. In the meantime, when Earth Day comes April 22, it wouldn’t hurt to plant a couple of trees to do the same thing.
