Still cursing over the DTV change because you finally got a converter but your antenna sucks? John Park has a solution using a few coat hangers, wire and wood. If that doesn’t solve the problem add some foil. Still have lousy reception? You are just going to have to cave and pay for a probably overpriced retailer’s antenna. As a bonus, at the end of the video John also makes a camcorder stabilizer.

Combimouse

Ari Zagnoev’s Combimouse is a keyboard and mouse arranged in an odd sort of way. The right unit is the right side of a QWERTY board that can be moved around for comfort and operates in keyboard mode unless it is switched. The company calls the switch “effortless and intuitive.” We call it one more thing to fall off the desk, although they say it was tested by college students who found it convenient. By the way, they are also looking for investors if you think they have a hit on their hands.

Elmoto

Help out the little guy and help save the planet at the same time. A couple of German engineers got together to develop the Elmoto, an electric bicycle powered by a 2KW engine. The bike can go for 40 miles on a single lithium-ion battery charge that will only cost about seventy cents. Weighing only 45kg, the aluminum framed vehicle retails for $5,700.00. Because the Elmoto was made with no outside help or funding, the developers are trying to sell 100 globally by the end of this year and mass produce in 2010.

Ionic CoolerAlthough Sharper Image and its Ionic Breeze purifier went belly up, Tessera and researchers from the University of Washington have teamed to adapt ionic cooling in a smaller form for laptops and other electronics. Supposedly the technology can extract about 30% more heat than a traditional fan at about half the power. Washington U’s Alexander Mamishev originally conducted research in 2006 before Tessera licensed it. And while the lifespan is not yet up to the 30,000 hours of life target, we may see it come to market next year.
