SE k220It’s Sony Ericsson’s turn to expand their product line, this time with four new models, the K200, K220, J120, and J110, which they refer to as “candy bars.” The first three of those are camera phones, while the J110, which they describe as “robust,” is their affordable basic model. The J120 also has an FM tuner and a radio/alarm clock.

The K200, features a 1-button photo album, and the K220 offers an FM tuner that can handle up to 10 preset stations. All of them feature talk time of up to 8 or 9 hours and standby of up to 300 hours. Available during Q2 of this year, we are hoping that by then they will actually name them Zagnut, Skor, Baby Ruth, and Snickers.

Casio EX-Z1050 Digital CamTo go with its latest series of EXILIM digital cams, Casio has released its second model, the Zoom EX-Z1050 which features eBay Best Shot, one of 38 total modes. It captures images that are optimized for eBay and includes Auto Macro for smaller size items, such as jewelry. It even goes so far as to store them in an eBay directory. With 10.1 mp images, a shooting speed of 7 shots per minute, a 3X optical and 4X digital zoom,  rapid-flash, and auto-focus, you can concentrate more on what you are selling than your ability to display it. Available in silver, black, pink, and blue (which we think is more of a purple,) the EX-Z1050 carries a MSRP of $299.99.

Zink PrinterPrinters just keep shrinking. Even smaller than the mPrint we told you about is Zink’s concept, which creates images out of a heated printer head coming into contact with specialized paper, somewhat along the lines of the Toshiba device we also blogged about last November.

Images are wallet size 2 x 3-inches, and because you can recycle the paper when you tire of one shot, you can simply replace it with another. Zink’s technology is on display at the conference Demo ‘07 this week in Palm Desert, CA, and its first products will probably be a $199.00 printer/camera hybrid and a $99.00 printer. Paper will be available for $19.99 for 100 sheets.

Hitachi Hybridcam

Hitachi has already reared its innovative head with its DZ-HS300E, 301E, 303E Hybridcams which combine both the large capacity of HDD with the convenience of DVD. They feature a multiformat +DVD-RAM/-R/ -RW/+RW burning capability. You can shoot, select, burn, and share without the aid of a computer.

Just as we are adjusting to that wondrous idea, out comes new models, the DZHS-401 and DZHS-403 with an 8GB hard disk, DVD burner, and 3.31 Mpix CCD, and the DZ-HS-503 with a 30GB hard disk. We’re not really complaining. We love that their technology is cutting edge. We just wonder why they decided to ruin the mood by offering it in pink.

Red Owl

This is surely the time of the military bot. We can now add the Red Owl to our “don’t send any more troops” iRobot collection. Developed by Glenn Thoren, a director at New Hampshire’s Insight Technology, the robot can be set up in a battlefield and can detect snipers’ hiding spaces by their report up to a mile away. Guided by a modified Xbox controller, the operator’s camera follows the bot movements and infrared lasers track targets while calculating the position by GPS. Unfortunately, it can’t command them to go away or go home. The Red Owl is slated to be available this spring at the life-saving price of $150,000.
