Surface Flirt

The Rio Hotel in Las Vegas has added a new Surface computer with Microsoft applications to its lounges. The Flirt allows barflies to chat with each other via text messages and web cams. Mixologist lets patrons design their own drinks and send them to other tables. Shaped like a table, it features a 30-inch display that uses infrared cams and a projector that creates a 360º touchscreen. Harrah’s also has plans to test the technology this year and add to it with a “Virtual Vegas” guest guide and computer games. At a $10,000 price tag, that means a whole lot of creative mixology and gaming for any bar thinking of investing.

CMOS camSharp has come up with a teeny, tiny 5MP camera with auto-focus which they say is the planet’s smallest. Set to come out en masse in July, we suspect that the CMOS cam module RJ63SC100 will become available on some of their holiday handhelds and other mobile products. Maybe they will lend out the design for spy-stuff which also continues to get smaller and smaller. Then again, perhaps it will inspire other companies to beat the diminutive size so that they can have the smallest.

The device has a touchscreen with icons that say things such as “turn off the light.” Introduced this week, the Strada also works as GPS. Of course, you have to have a webcam and netlinking system. With a $3,400.00 price you could always get a couple of timers to do the same thing. Look for it to hit the market this June.
