Sooloos

The Sooloos Music System has been in development for a while and is finally being released. The touch control device with 17-inch screen and intuitive graphical interface can handle from 2,000 to 6,000 albums, and includes information on genre, performer, and high-res cover art. It is expandable up to 3TB to allow for enough CDs to start your own radio station. Its circuitry is the same as used by professional studios and pre-recorded music packages are also available. Look for Soolos at the CES 2008 in January for its grand unveiling.

3D ScreenThe Korean Company 3DIS has come up with an LCD monitor that allows you to see in 3D without the silly glasses. The 1040S utilizes ALT (Advanced Layer Technology) which results in a clearer, brighter image for the Parallax Barrier type screen. The monitor also allows a wider viewing angle and can change from 2D to 3D with a single switch. The Korean company’s CEO Sun Joo Lee claims that there is an increasing demand for 3D in today’s market and hopes to adapt the technology for laptops. We can’t really see much of a view from this image, but the 1040S will be on display during the CES 2008 in January if you would like a personal peek.

SpykeMeccano’s foot tall, remote controlled Spyke is not exactly the scariest security guard we have seen, but at least he is trying. Unveiled at the CES 2007, he will feed you images via his live webcam feed from a Wi-Fi router. He can also receive and play streamed music through his built in speakers, and is Skype capable.

One of the bot’s best attributes is that when his batteries run low, he will head for his charging station. Sounding like a cross between R2D2 and a toy machine gun, Spyke is being sold under the Erector brand in the U.S. and can be yours for £199.95 (~$391.00) this April.
