iPad mini with Retina display refurbished

For the first time, Apple is selling refurbished models of the iPad mini with Retina display. The benefit here, of course, is that buyers are now able to pay less for Apple's popular tablet, while maintaining a free 1-year of AppleCare warranty as well. For now, it's just the Wi-Fi models that are available refurbished--nothing yet for the Wi-Fi + Cellular versions.

The 16GB Retina iPad mini is $339, which is a 15% discount from the full $399 price. The 32GB version sells for $419, which is $80 less than the standard price, and the 64GB model is $509, which is a price drop of $90. For now, there are no 128GB versions of the iPad mini with Retina display available as a refurb.

These are gonna go fast, so head on over to Apple and grab a refurb iPad mini if you wanna take advantage of the deal.

iPhone 6 display

A photo that purports to show a front panel from the upcoming iPhone 6 has appeared on China's Weibo site. In the photo, someone is holding the alleged iPhone 6 part up next to a current black iPhone 5s in order to show a size comparison between the two Apple smartphones. The display panel matches up with the rumored 4.7-inch size increase. Of course, that doesn't mean that this particular image is real, but iPhone leaks do start happening annually, like clockwork, around this time of year for the past three years.

Mac Pro amazon

While Apple is still quoting 4-6 week delivery times for new Mac Pro orders, those who need one sooner should know that Amazon has both stock configurations ready to ship immediately. The quad-core 3.7GHz Mac Pro with dual AMD FirePro D300 cards and 12GB RAM is $2,994, while the six-core 3.5GHz Mac Pro with dual AMD FirePro D500 cards and 16GB RAM is $3,994. You can find them here:

If you want more RAM, it's cheaper to buy it yourself from a place like OWC anyway (video tutorial after the jump.) Additionally, Amazon doesn't charge sales tax in most places, so at those high prices, you're saving a pretty penny. Overnight shipping on the Mac Pros is available as well.

iPad AIr mini touch id

Apple may be prepping the 2014 iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display models to include Touch ID, among other new additions. According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the prediction is that we'll see an expected chip bump with the Apple A8 processor, rear iSight camera resolution increased to 8MP, and the aforementioned Touch ID fingerprint recognition security feature in both the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display.

Kuo also believes that this year's iPads will launch earlier than they did last year, which would imply that they should arrive sooner than November. As for the long-rumored 12.9-inch iPad? Kuo says that the larger tablet is unlikely to appear in 2014.

Microsoft Office for iPad

New Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced the availability of Office for iPad, making it his very first public announcement since taking the helm of the tech company. Microsoft Office for iPad was not only announced today, but it's available for download today from the Apple App Store as well.

Office for iPad is comprised of three free apps: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You can use each app to view and present their respective Office documents, but if you also want to be able to create and edit documents, an Office 365 subscription is required. Through the power of OneDrive, changes made to documents in one place (like the iPad app) will sync over to your other environments (like your Windows laptop.) Here are the download links:

We'll have a full Office for iPad review shortly to let you know our thoughts!

Transcend 32gb RAM modules

The new Mac Pro is advertised by Apple to support up to 64GB of RAM. That's a staggering amount in our books, but some power users have balked at the limit, wishing for the option to stuff their Mac Pro with even more RAM. Well, it turns out that the limit was likely due to higher capacity DIMMs not being available--but Transcend has changed that. The company has released 32GB RAM modules that are compatible with the new Mac Pro, which supports four sticks. That'll bring your RAM to 128GB.

"The new Mac Pro 2013 is advertised to support up to 64GB of memory, and we understand that pro users running applications that place high demands on RAM have a need to meet and most likely exceed this threshold," said Transcend's Director of Research and Development Angus Wu. "For this reason, we have developed and fully tested higher density modules to give users the option of raising their Mac Pro system memory to the advertised 64GB right up to 128GB."

Transcend guarantees 100% compatibility with the 2013 Mac Pro, alongside a lifetime warranty. If you want the 64GB kit, that costs $980, while the 128GB RAM kit goes for a whopping $2480.

If you're looking to up the RAM in your Mac Pro, be sure to check out our video tutorial: How to Upgrade your Mac Pro (2013) RAM - we get our RAM from OWC, ourselves.

iPhone 5c 8GB

Apple has released an 8 GB version of the iPhone 5c. The new lower-capacity model will only be sold in select markets where LTE is just now coming to fruition as an entry-level device (since the iPhone 4s only supports 3G.)

"The mid-tier iPhone segment is growing year-over-year and the 8GB model provides a more affordable option for markets where LTE is becoming more established," an Apple representative told Re/code.

Apple's Online Stores in  the UK, France, Germany, China, and Australia are the only territories selling the 8 GB iPhone 5c. In Europe, the cost is £429 for an unlocked model, available in all the same colors as the larger-capacity models. To be honest, this one has us scratching our heads a bit--8GB of storage on a phone that takes 8-megapixel images and high definition video is absolutely nothing. If Apple has it planned for the entry-level buyers, then the price should be less than it is.

Be sure to check out our iPhone 5c review.

Apple TV 6.1

Alongside the iOS 7.1 update, Apple also released Apple TV update version 6.1, which offers a much easier way to hide unwanted app channels from the Apple TV home screen. After updating, all you need to do is highlight an icon, and press and hold the Select button until all the icons start wiggling. Then, head over to the one you'd like to remove, and hit the Play/Pause button, and then select Hide. It's gone! You can re-add any hidden channels by going into the Settings > Main Menu area.

The new method is much easier than the previous, where you'd have to navigate into your Settings menu to hide items. Now, you can do it right from the home screen.

If you haven't yet got the latest Apple TV update, navigate over to Settings > Software Update, and choose Update Software.

You can pick up an Apple TV from the Apple Store Online.

iOS 7.1 new features

Earlier today Apple released iOS 7.1, an update for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch that brings with it several major features and improvements. Some of the more notable additions include CarPlay, Siri enhancements, iTunes Radio improvements, and overall stability improvements for iOS 7 on the iPhone 4. If you're unfamiliar, CarPlay was unveiled last week at the Geneva Motor Show, and will be available in some 2014 model vehicles, bringing iOS 7-style functionality to the center console dashboard, allowing users to control things like Maps, Music, Messages, and other apps.

You can download iOS 7.1 now, and we've got the full list of all the changes, according to Apple, after the jump.
