Wal-mart Offers Download Bonuses With “Superman Returns” Purchase
Just as Time Warner has made their announcement that they will be offering digital downloads, Wal-mart has decided to offer one also with the purchase of “Superman Returns”, which it is selling for $19.96. Customers purchasing the movie can pay an extra $2.97 to play on PCs or laptops, $1.97 more for portable devices, and $3.97 for both. Because the portable format videos are encoded at a 320 x 240 resolution with an average bit rate of 500 kbps, the download will not be compatible with iPods. As a footnote, “Superman Returns” was produced and distributed by, you guessed it, Warner Bros.
