SAIC Goes Green
In the early 80’s, SAIC built a sedan overseas called the Shanghai . They then began working with Volkswagen to help produce the Santana. In an agreement with General Motors, they now build and sell approximate one million vehicles yearly in China. They have decided to go green by developing and “speeding up commercialization” with more fuel-cell vehicles. Next year they will once again team with VW to produce 500 Touran gas/electric hybrids, the concept of which will be making its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show this week.
