Matsushita Recalls Older Appliances

kaboomMatsushita Electric has announced that it will be replacing wiring and parts in many of its home appliances because they may be fire hazards that could create sparks and ignite plastic pieces. Included in the recall are approximately 1.9 million microwaves manufactured from 1988 to 1993, 820,000 dryers made from 1993 to 2001, and 300,000 refrigerator/freezers made from 1989 to 1993. Although the company claims that only about 260,000 of them are still in use, nine accidents involving smoke and/or fire have already occurred. Check your ancient appliances and contact Matsushita if you think you may have one of the offenders, and feel relieved with the knowledge that the inspection and repair are free.
