PC Tech Wipes Out ADR Memory
Our worst nightmare is having our beloved PC crash and burn. Imagine how a computer technician working for the Alaska Department of Revenue felt when, after deleting some data for an oil-funded sales account worth $38 billion, he mistakenly reformated the back up drive and poof, it was gone. Checking the back up tapes of that night proved them unreadable. After a calm panic and an abundance of advice from Microsoft, it cost the ADR over $200,000 in overtime and consultancy fees for the 6 week reconstruction. Fortunately for all concerned, this story has a happy ending. There were 300 cardboard boxes filled with the answer to the dilemma, the original paperwork.
