Like.com Offers Search Without Text

You just have to have some of that bling that Paris has. Instead of Googling endlessly for it, Riya has launched Like.com, a visual search engine that allows you to click on a photo of an item you want and find it without words. They do this with technology that creates a digital signature that describes the photo’s content. You then narrow it down by details such as price, color, material, etc.

Currently Like.com is focusing on jewelry, handbags, shoes, and watches, and plans to expand to include clothing and what they refer to as “aesthetically oriented product categories.” We took it for a test run and came up with thousands of items to choose from, but we think the concept is right on.
