Does Apple have special plans for the 10th Anniversary of the Apple Store?
Is Apple planning something for the tenth anniversary of the Apple stores?
According to a source cited by The Boy Genius Report, it is.
What's interesting isn't that the company allegedly plans something for the Thursday the 19th anniversary, but that it apparently is going to celebrate right through the weekend.
Some of the plans include a Saturday to Sunday overnight shift, apparently to restock the store, new hardware, and mysterious black curtains to hide whatever's inside.
Based on the BGR report, we'd guess that Apple does plan a weekend celebration, perhaps with a few discounts on selected merchandise. But it's the "new hardware" that seems suspicious. A new design of an iPhone? We don't think so, as supplier's and manufacturers have claimed to not have been given details about the next phone, no FCC submission has taken place, and you can bet that Apple would pre-announce something like that in order to get the frenzied lines forming. How about a special 10th anniversary edition of an iMac? Something like that might be more likely, given that would essentially be just a case modification.
As far for the store's anniversary, Apple is usually rather hospitable with gifts for its customers and fans, at least during the lines accompanying its product launches. Could we see special guests? Sure? Classes taught by specialists in the field? Not a bad idea. But it's all speculation, of course.
