You’ve got your elite with their fancy Swedish Automowers that they adore so much they give them names, and then there are others who take a more ordinary approach by having a robot slave do the work for them, despite the rudeness of the family dog. The video of the Tynamizer is fairly amusing to watch but we were wondering a couple of things. Doesn’t the grass already look fairly short? And what happens when the extension cord runs out?

Sony HT-IS100 SpeakerSony has decided to downsize with their latest speakers. The 5.1 HT-IS100 system has 4 small 43 x 43mm speakers weighing about 70g. With a maximum output of 425 watts, it has a 3-prod HDMI input for the S-Master audio system. The company is also offering their HT-CT100, a 3.1 one speaker combo with one subwoofer, and a front center speaker with a 250W output. We always appreciate when Sony starts thinking mini.

Westinghouse HDTV/DVD Combo

Take a look at Westinghouse Digital’s 40-inch 1080p Combo. The VK-40F580D HDTV has an optimal resolution of 1920 x 1080 with 16.7 million colors, an integrated front slot load DVD player, preset and custom video modes, and 2 HDMI inputs. It also features their Pixel Direct tech and SpineDesign side connectors. We actually caught a couple of Westinghouse’s displays recently and were pleasantly surprised that the company has its handle on something other than refrigerators.

Logitech NanoLogitech has unveiled its V450 cordless laser mouse for notebooks. It features their Plug-and-Forget Nano-receiver that goes into your USB for charging and can be stored inside the mouse. It has a laser sensor for smooth tracking, 2.4 GHz wireless tech, auto-turn off, and 12 months of battery life. The ergonomic mouse includes sculpted keys and soft rubber grips, and will be available later this month in the U.S. and in July in Europe for $49.99.

GolferOnce you acquire your new Shadow Caddy, you will certainly have to purchase Geostate’s golf balls to go with your tech savvy status. The British company uses satellite technology and places chips inside that inform the golfer how fast and far the ball travels, similar to GPS in cars. While an actual product will not be available for a while, Geostate is hoping that eventually the tech can be incorporated into other items such as jogging shoes and pet collars.

FakeTVWhile we all know that burglars usually avoid houses where there appears to be someone in the house, if you don’t have an alarm system or a watch dog, what else can you do to be safe? Opto-Electronic Design claims their FakeTV is the answer. Controlled by computer, the multi-color LED simulates a real 27-inch TV. A built-in light sensor comes on at dusk and turns off automatically when it’s dawn. While we like the idea of saving some energy while keeping our home safe, we are not completely convinced that this is the way to go. We figure if the burglar is looking for a way to get in anyway, he/she is smart enough to notice a phony television set.
