eDimensional and Ben Heckendorn have devised the Access Controller that can be played with one hand. Compatible with the Playstation 2, Playstation 3, and PC platforms, it has the regular functions of other gamepads, and also has modules that can be removed and replaced for any game or style. With 2.4 GHz wireless tech, the unit includes instructions for you to develop your own custom mods and accessories. Sales are on a first-come pre-order basis with a ship date expected of 8 to 10 weeks. Best of all, a portion of the $129.99 from some of the controllers will go to Children’s Hospital and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers.

SMK has come up with a prototype TV remote shaped like a water pistol. Power, volume, and channels are all controlled by the trigger. Click once for channel changing, two for on/off, and a click with a button push to change channels. Inside, there is an electromagnetic induction coil with a current of ~20 to 30mA when it gets going, high speed rotation gears, a power circuit, and an infrared light emitting unit. We hope SMK continues their energy-efficient research.

Okay, we gotta hand it to these guys - when you put it like this, I guess Wii really can seem lame. Unfortunately, a lot of games utilize similar mechanics as are found in this parody. However you feel about Nintendo‘s money-making machine, this one is definitely good for a laugh.

This is almost too scary. iXs Research Corp. has created a talking Teddy Bear with GPS. At about a foot tall, it has 6 joints in its neck and arm to prove its spoken point. The teddy also has an alcohol detection sensor in its neck and will admonish you if it smells that last margarita with “You haven’t been drinking, have you?”
Stroke his head and he will tell you about nearby landmarks. And if you drive badly, he will tell you to “Watch out.” The company is planning a 2009 launch and has patented the idea so that they can implant their technology in other types of dolls. We just want to know, what will the guy in the car next to you think if your teddy is talking?

We already know that plants thrive when you talk to them, but what if your plant decided to chat with you? The prototype Pet Plant by Junyi Heo keeps track of its soil temperature, humidity, and water condition, and lets its owner know what it needs by means of LCD display pictograms. Supposedly, it will also drain itself if over-watered. The Pet Plant’s USB interface charges and transmits the info from computer software. Perhaps the next gen of the gadget will scream out “Feed me, Seymore!”
