And yet more retro gadgets rear their heads in the shape of NES koopas and other miscellaneous gamey creatures. “pixelparty” makes the Super Mario 3/4 x 1/2-inch jewelry out of shrinkydinks, plastic, and plain cufflinks. Each design will set you back $16.00, and if you don’t like what you see on his Etsy page, he is more than willing to create something pixellated just for you. We wonder what he could do with Metroid or Frogger.

We think that the Massage me Jacket must have been designed by a couple of women whose men wouldn’t leave their gaming consoles. Hannah Perner-Wilson and Mika Satomi are behind the clothing made with a hacked Playstation Controller that takes two to use. One wears the jacket and the other treats the users back as a gamepad, since it has soft, flexible buttons. As long as the game lasts, the wearee earns the real bonus. The duo tells you give you some DIY tips on their site. We’ll take several, please.

Chances are you won’t be discovered at a drug store counter or the corner pub that showcases local bands, but now you have a better chance at this new website, the City of Fame. Upload your music videos or screen tests and perhaps you will be noticed, not that we think a lot of agents will be hanging on the site. Still, it is a step up from YouTube and MySpace. Registration is free and we wonder, if you make it, will the site ask for a percentage?
(Thanks, Frani)

Designer Dog Washer Needs No Shampoo
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Smart Home, Misc. Tech, Science,
IDEC has released its hi-tech Wan Love Yu (”Dog Love Bath”,) which does without shampoo. Instead it utilizes a shower head that discharges water with about half a million air bubbles per cubic centimeter. With technology used by industrial water treatment systems, the bubbles are small enough to remove dirt and odors from a pup’s skin and hair follicles. The 27.5 x 27.5 x 43cm jacuzzi and hose combination goes on sale this week at a price somewhere between 600,000 and ¥700,000 (~$6,000.00 to $7,000.00.)

Sony Ericsson has unveiled its F305, a cell phone for those who are Wii-happy. The cellie supports 3D Java games as well as Nintendo’s swipe and swing gesturing control. At a size of 3.8 x 1.9 x .6-inches and a weight of 3.4oz., it has a 2-inch, 262k, 176 x 220 pixel TFT display. The battery allows 8 hours of gaming per charge, and other features include Bluetooth support, an M2 memory card slot, a 2 megapixel cam, and built-in stereo speakers. That’s all well and good, but think how silly you will look when the person in the next cubicle sees you during your lunch break playing “Johnny Crash, Stuntman” and makes you a reservation at the nearest rubber room. Look for the F305 to debut in Q4.

The Anywear 3D PE980 Pedometer means precisely that, since you can carry it your pocket, backpack, or around your neck. Not only will it measure the distance walked (up to 99,999 steps) and the time that has elapsed, it counts your calories burned and stores up to 7 days of data. But the best part has to be that when it measures your progress, it will let you know just when you can expect to hit that finish line. It also has a clock with alarm, included batteries, a lanyard and clip, and a price of $49.99.

A new start up company from Stanford Business School, d.light, is working to help those who don’t have access to electricity to light up their lives. Based in New Delhi, India, they have designed lamps for those who live on only about $1.00 a day. The Nova comes in both solar and AC chargeable models, and is 30 to 50% more efficient than fluorescent light for up to 40 hours.
