Potential Rogers iPhone customers livid at prices in Canada

Check out the above clip from a Canadian new story, reporting on the price gouging going on with Rogers Wireless over in the Great White North. We feel their pain, as the Rogers iPhone 3G pricing plan is an utter rip-off. So much so, that some Rogers customers are even considering leaving their contracts behind with the company. For all the details on the plans, hit the video above, but the suckiest part is that you only get 400 MB of data on Rogers. That is nothing. Compare that to AT&T in the USA, where you get unlimited data with an iPhone plan.
Rogers says that their plans offer customers “high value bundles.” What? Potential customers have started a site over at Ruined iPhone to collect all the negative comments, and press associated with this story.

At Computex 2008 in Taipei, Taiwan, AverMedia shows off their new digital TV Tuner solution for the Mac. It looks like a competent solution, and it’s great to see more TV tuner hardware that’s OSX compatible.
Look for it by the end of 2008. Pricing is likely to be on par with the other Volar series, which is around $100.

iPhone 3G launches in one week

Happy July 4th to all our American readers. We just wanted to remind those of you who live in one of the initial launch countries that iPhone 3G launches in just one week. Remember, unlike last year, the iPhone 3G will go on sale at 8:00 AM, so start planning your line strategy now. Aside from 3G goodness, you also have iPhone 2.0, the App Store, and built-in GPS. Next Friday can’t come soon enough for us.

Engineering students from the Univ. of Adelaide won an award for their mechatronics project that took 8 months to complete. The system consists of a motions sensor system, software for decision making, and an actuation system for control manipulation. The 4 sets of rods can move side to side and rotate for kicking. It’s about time somebody came up with Wii-type controllers for PCs. GoLive2 has introduced Stix. The motion-sensing controls feature LED lights and come in three styles and will be compatible with games on their site, as well as offering third party and independent game support. The Stix 100 and 200 will only work with 2D games, while the Stix 400 can also be used with 3D titles. No price has been announced as yet, but look for an August arrival.
