Thanko has come up with a mouse for those with sweaty palms. The 3-button device has a 2-inch fan built into the base. The USBCOOLM is 6 x 12.6 x 4cm, has an on/off switch and can be used by those who are left and right handers. Compatible with Windows, you can get one for ¥1,980 (~$18.00.) While we are not sure we need a cooler mouse, at the very least we expect is that it might clean off the crumbs we sometimes spill.

Apple iLife 08 updates bring MobileMe support

Of you’re a MobileMe user who has been annoyed at the lack of integration of iLife 08 apps with the service, fret no more. Apple has just unleashed a few updates for the application suite, aimed at squashing a few bugs, improving stability, and integrating MobileMe where it make sense. You get an iLife Support update, as well as news versions of iPhoto, iWeb, and iMovie. Not too bad a deal, right? Now you can get back to editing those iWeb pages and MobileMe galleries. Just fire up Software Update to get the goods.

Beats by Dr. Dre unboxing gallery

We’ve been following the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones ever since we first got some hands-on (and ears-on) time with them back at CES. The Gear Live group that got to try them out included a few serious audiophiles, and we were thoroughly impressed by the sound that they were putting out, and this is when they were still in the development phase.
We just got a pair of the final production model, and early indications are that they are full of a bit more awesome than they were back then. We will hit you with a proper review soon, but for now, we wanted to get you a nice Beats unboxing gallery, chock full of unboxing shots. We’ve got over 30 images for you to chew on while you wait for these bad boys to launch on July 25th. If you want them, you will find them exclusively in Apple Stores and Best Buy, as well as over at BeatsByDre.com. They will run you $349.95, $50 less than they were announced for back at CES.

MSN and Hearst Team for Delish.com

If you are one of those that has experienced the joy of ordering your beef jerky on Amazon or can’t get enough of food news, MSN and Hearst have teamed together to create Delish.com. The site will launch this fall and be accessible through both the MSN home page and their Lifestyle Channel. Included will be content about food and entertaining with recipes, food articles, photo galleries, video, and interactive tools. MSN’s Jeff Dossett says that 60 million visitors already check out food-related sites. We wonder if we can get some of those nifty food USB flash drives through the site.

We remember showing you some USB flash drives that resembled pizza and burgers a while back. Apparently they were relished by many (pun intended,) so now there are more of them to love. The Fruit Flash Drives hold 4 GB of data, come in strawberry and watermelon, support Window 2000/XP/Vista or MAC OS, and are plug and play for $28.00 each. Brando has some available in cookies (although they refer to them as biscuits) and BBQ flavors as well.

Erez Lieberman, a Harvard-MIT graduate student, has devised the iShoe that will help physicians detect balance problems before falls occur. Given a $50,000.00 grant from the Lunar Ventures Competition to take it past the prototype stage, Lieberman originally developed the shoe for NASA to help them monitor balance problems incurred by astronauts after they return from space. While there he managed to come up with a new system for collecting data and an algorithm to analyze it.
Because his own grandmother had a bad fall a while back, Lieberman realized that the tech could help others. The iSole may also be equipped with an alarm that would let other family members know that a fall has occurred.

Coby Electronics HD Radio Receivers

Coby Electronics has released a pair of cordless HD Radio Receivers. The HDR-700 and 650 receive digital HD, AM, and FM stations with no subscription charge. Each features an LCD display with backlighting, a preset station memory, and SDcard slot, and is housed in a brushed aluminum casing. The receivers come with remotes and have both an RCA connection and 3.5mm headphone jacks. Look for prices that start at $99.99, depending on where you shop.

Olens Technology XPJ Projector

Olens Technology’s XPJ Projector is a digital video projector that can be used with gaming systems, home computers, and for watching DVDs and VHS Tapes. The PEP (Personal Entertainment Projector) is portable and can project an image from 40 to 70-inches with a resolution of 640 X 480 pixels (VGA.) It features built-in stereo speakers and an audio-out jack allows sound system connection. It syncs with the iTunes library and the company promises the learning curve is almost non-existent. Portable and self-powered, the battery will last up to 10 hours of usage. TiVo to incorporate Amazon shopping into menu

Way out of left field, TiVo has announced that customers are going to be able to browse and purchase from Amazon’s huge inventory, from the comfort of their living rooms. You know, because shopping a store that has tens of thousands of items to choose from, using just your remote control, is all kinds of awesome. To take part, you need to have a broadband-connected TiVo Series 2, Series 3, or TiVo HD (seriously, is anyone still doing dial-up on these things?).
Starting today, TiVo will launch the new service to consumers by merchandising products related to several high profile shows, including but not limited to The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Colbert Report, and Burn Notice. Consumers will also be able to use TiVo’s Universal Swivel Search to easily explore and buy products associated with their favorite shows, movies, actors, and directors, directly from the television set
I don’t know about you, but these images showing Amazon shopping on TiVo don’t look that enticing. In any event, you can get your shop on starting today.
