The TiVo Desktop software has been upgraded, and version 2.1 is now available for download. The biggest change, aside from the visual aspect, is that TiVo Desktop 2.1 includes support for playing TiVoToGo shows on Microsoft Portable Media Center units. The update is available for the Windows XP and 2000 operating systems. On the flip side, if you are on a Mac, it looks like TiVo Desktop 1.9.1 is broken in Tiger. Personally, I am still waiting for them to release TiVoToGo for DVD players with integrated TiVo software. What gives?

Man, I wish they had these when I was a kid. The Cup-A-Cake was designed to hold a frosted cupcake in place by firmly gripping it at the base. It encases the cupcake, and the internal grip keeps it from moving. This way your frosting artwork skills don’t get ruined, even if the container is bounced around in your gadget bag. As the mothers of the world would say, no muss, no fuss!

One thing I love about Seattle is that it seems that it is at the technology forefront of the USA, at least as far as Internet geekery goes.case in point: Utilizing the Space Needle as it’s delivery method, Speakeasy has launch a Pre-WiMax service in the Emerald City. While it will run you $800 per month for a subscription, you will get 3.0 megabits up and down (or 6.0 megabits total). Or you could drop the price down by $300 by opting for a 3.0 megabits total connection. The hardware is supplied by Alvarion, and the signal covers a radius of 5 square miles in any direction. Full press release after the jump.

Rock Ridge VRX-02 Puts Video On The PSP
Posted by Jesse Easley Categories: Accessories, Portable/Mobile,
It’s not often that a third party accessory gets me hyped up, so when one finally does, it deserves some attention. Rock Ridge Sound Japan has new accessory being released called the VRX-02. Many PSP owners are trying to get that 1GB Memory Stick Duo to hold video transferred from their computer. The VRX-02 allows users to hook up DVD Players and their PSP and the VRX will transfer the movie to your PSP in the appropriate file format. To us this is a huge deal. The release of this accessory pretty much puts the UMD movie format to rest for those in the know. Currently we don’t know if there are any plans for a US release, or if the Japanese unit will work with American DVD players, but we hope to find out soon.

Looks like Bill Gates stole a bit of the thunder from the Xbox team who plan to announce the console next week live on MTV:
The remark, apparently inadvertent, came as Gates talked about consumer adoption of high-definition displays, which Microsoft is incorporating into its strategy as it takes on market leader Sony Corp. and its dominant PlayStation franchise. “What will the year of high-definition be?” Gates asked, rhetorically. He then answered the question by saying that it would be tempting to think of it as “this year, because we’re going to ship this next Xbox.”
But we all knew the 360 was coming this year anyway, right?

While it has been obvious to those paying even a small amount of attention, it seems the media is up in arms over the fact that Bill Gates stated that the Xbox 360 would be hitting retail this year at a national convention yesterday. is this really news to anyone?
“What will the year of high-definition be?” Gates asked, rhetorically. He then answered the question by saying that it would be tempting to think of it as “this year, because we’re going to ship this next Xbox.” A representative of the Xbox team declined to comment on Gates’ remark. Microsoft plans to announce details and timing for the next Xbox during a TV special next week.
